I have been certify since "03" through NCCT (National Center for certification testing, pass the test on the first try, it was kind of a long and intense test, but I was so happy and proud, eight months after graduating, I give up on finding a gob, but five years later I still paying for my CEU's, I still don't want to give it up, although in many states is not necessary to be certify, I'm the kind that thinks "if you got your credential up to date you will have better chances"

Lupita, Did you get your certification through National Center for Competency Testing? The reason I'm asking is because I have a friend that told me they took courses there in medical billing 101, 102, medical terminology and 2 coding courses as a way to get proof of their knowledge in billing and coding procedures without having to study, sit and pass the National Certification Exams given by the AAPC or AHIMA. Here is what I would do if I were in your situation: 1)Purchase the Medical Coding Practice Exam and Strategies Bundle at www.urlfreeze.com/medbill/Medical_Coding_Practice_Exam/ so you can see how you would fair if you were to take the AAPC or AHIMA's National Certification Exam today. 2)If you do really well after taking the practice exam then I would stop paying for the CE's at NCCT. 3)I would then study just a little bit more and sit for one of the Nationally Certification Exams given by the AAPC or AHIMA. You need to remember that in coding nothing you can ever earn (certificate, diploma or degree) can top National Certification from the AAPC or AHIMA because they set and evaluate the standards of the Medical Coding Industry.
