I am about to start a medical billing and coding program a would really appreciate it if someone with at least 3 years experience would be willing to answer the following questions for me. Thanks!

1) What type of office do you work in?

2) How long have you been working there?

3) What do you like least about this career?

4) What do you like most about this career?

5) What kind of work pace does this job require?

6) How closely are you supervised?

7) How much training and/or experience did you have before you started this job?

8) How are your working conditions?

9) If you work overtime, how much notice do you get?

10) What is the policy for raises, bonuses, or promotions?

11) What kind of personal characteristics should a successful employee have for this job?

1) What type of office do you work in? Urology

2) How long have you been working there? 2 years, but in Medical Billing field since 1984. Started as File Clerk, never had a degree til now, will graduate October 2008 from Anthem College, AZ. I learned trial and error.

3) What do you like least about this career? I did Accounts Receivable, Collections especially when you have to collect from senior citizens. Unable to read Physicians' handwriting.

4) What do you like most about this career? It is a ever learning field, it is always changing. I like solving problems.

5) What kind of work pace does this job require? Either hospital or private office.

6) How closely are you supervised? The office I work in now, the supervisor is the Physicians' wife so not too much. My advice is to not work in a office like what I am in. I'm left by myself on Wednesdays. I usually set my own work, since I only work Mondays and Wednesdays. Urology is a hard specialty to code.

7) How much training and/or experience did you have before you started this job?
I have been in this field since, 1984. 24 years, but there is also a drawback, when I go to apply for other jobs, some private offices do not want to pay.
8) How are your working conditions?
Could be better. The Physician is ok, but the wife is a trip. We had to have a conference.
9) If you work overtime, how much notice do you get?
Don't work overtime.
10) What is the policy for raises, bonuses, or promotions?
Never was discussed, just will give a raise.
11) What kind of personal characteristics should a successful employee have for this job?

First of all, I think able to get along with co-workers and supervisor, and a willingness to be open to learning new things
