Can someone give me some advise I am not certificated should I retake the medical billing and coding course or study to take the certification test. And would I be able to find work without have result experience. |

You need to ask yourself first which do you enjoy more. Billing or Coding. Hospital Coders do not handle the billing so study for that will not help you land a job just for coding. Now in a doctors office or for one who works in a Medical clinic environment billing would be helpful. Also for hospital coding I see more and more coding jobs advertised with not only experience of course but also looking for college degree either RHIT with is a 2yr associate in science or the RHIA with is a 4 yr bachelor in science so you might want to consider that. And while you are going to school you should try to get in at a local hospital in the medical records dept, anything they have to get in the door, one you will establish that you are a reliable worker, 2 you will see the coding job posted inhouse before it is ever posted in the paper. Hope this helps |
