Like most nurses we cannot do the job forever. So I have decided to branch into coding. The problem is what to study. I have no idea between cpc etc .I do not want to go back to school for two years to get an other degree. So what are my options? I am a bit clueless on this subject. Can anyone advise

Your best choice it to try to earn a CCS credential from AHIMA. It is the gold standard, particularly for a Nurse looking to be a nurse auditor.

Having a medical background should make it easier to pass the test, but their is a high failure rate for those with no coding experience. There are study prep programs that can help or you can get your CCA first and take the self study course for that and then take the CCS.
