I was curious about the dress code policies for a medical coder, I have gauges in my ears and am starting a course for medical coding. I would like to know if anyone knows if it would be difficult to find a job in this field with gauges, or if anyone has gauges that currrently has a job in the field.

Hey Mikey! I'm from Pasadena but since then have moved to Dallas. I start my classes on Tuesday. I worked in mortgage before this so I am starting a new and exciting venture in life. As far as your gauges, what size are they? I mean are they small or so huge you can put a golf ball through. You have to realize that you will be working in a professional setting and appearance speaks volumes. For an interview, remove them for sure. Once you start work feel the place out for a bit. See how others dress and how your boss is. The workplace might not be the place for them. For instance, my brother in law worked at Starbucks. He had guages, his nose pierced like a bull, his part between his eyes pierced, and a few tattoos. Once he started working there he took all of it out and covered his tattoos. It just depends but I would say at first, don't wear them. |
