Megan-P in Naples, Florida said: Three cheers for the NAMSR (National Association of Medical Sales Reps)which has further raised the bar by requiring that all new medical sales applicants who want to work in the industry meet industry and certification standards. These standards are required by hundreds of medical device companies. Medical sales rep and especially anyone looking to break into a medical sales career would do well to get their RMSR Certification. Hi I was wondering if you could give me some advice, I see your are in Naples, I'm in Ft. Myers. I graduated this year with a BS in healkth science admin, but I want to go into sales. I currently am working in the leagal field for almost 3 years, what should my first step be in transitioning over to medical sales. |

Very interesting that Marie T. is suddenly posting all over this form for this website. My conclusion is that she is betting all the people who were dumb enough to pay for the RMSR certification in the first place will not mind paying for a job board with postings the companies didn't even post OR you are being set up by NAMSR again. Either way, good luck with wasting more money on a program no one recognizes. For real validation, take a look at REAL people and what they say on Linkedin. |

Wow what an interested read. I have over fourteen years of experience as a RN with a BSN. I am interested to getting into this field. Would I, with my background and knowledge and hands on experence with medical equipment and devices need to get certified in this industry? Not to mention I know how to deal with doctors and medical executives. I really don't think so, I need information on building a sales and marketing knowledge base, any advice? |

YOU DO NOT NEED THIS TO GET A JOB IN MEDICAL DEVICE!!!! You need a undergrad degree, know how to sale, be aggressive, b2b experience and willingness to be a sub-rep/associate rep for a few years. DO NOT PAY MONEY for a "certification" that doesn't help. Question: Will this teach you how to SELL to a surgeon, run a OR, hospital protocol, cover cases, TEACH YOUR SURGOEN how to use your products, deal with purchasing/mm/or coordinator or any C-level, etc... there are hundreds of other things involved in medical device sales besides HIPPA regulations. I have been in device for 9 years and I can tell you that not 1 company in the big 10 look for this type of certification. Get out and call distributors, managers, other device reps and network!!! Stop applying online and go to the source, this is what MEDICAL DEVICE REPS do EVERYDAY! We don't wait for the phone to ring!!! |

Hello, I read some of these positive reviews on the RMSR Certification but I do have a question I don't have a 4 yr degree but do have over 12+ yrs of b2b sales and just graduated from a surgical tech program and finished my 5 month internship at the surgery center in the hospital. And I'm also getting my CST (certification for surgery technician) this month. Realistically do you guys think that this would help me get into medical or surgical device sales since I still don't have my 4 yr degree?? I appreciate any advice anyone could share!!!!! |

The program would probably be basic for you from the medical side, but there are still the regulations of the industry you may still want to brush up on. You could also try testing out of the program if you still wanted to credential, which costs a lot less. |

Hello, my name is Eric and I just purchased the RMSR training materials. I really don't have any B2B sales experience or really any true sales experience except dealing with customers face-to-face as an engineer for 9 years. What I am wondering is if the RMSR training is going to be able to land me an entry-level position as a Medical Device Sales Professional without much previous sales experience and just passing the RMSR examination. Anyone who can give me feedback on this before I spend my approximate 1 month of study to pass this examination would be of great use to me. I really appreciate all of the feedback that anyone can afford to me. Thank you so very much! BTW, I do have a 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering. |

The RMSR is certainly industry recognized and my medical device employer values the training. |

While it seems like the RMSR Certification would give me an edge on other applicants and some basic medical industry knowledge, is it really a necessity to break in to medical sales? I have a BA in Commumications with about 6 years top performing B2B and Direct Sales experience. I have recruiters contacting me on a regular basis about various opportunities. I am just now starting to seek out a position in medical device sales. I feel confident in my networking and sales skills. However, I don't want to blow opportunities or waste time on interviewing if I lack a vital tool, RMSR. By the way, about how long does it take to complete the study material and take the exam? |
