Hi, I've been thinking about a career change from engineering to MT/CLS for a while. I recently discovered the "4+1" programs, which would allow me to use my B.S. degree and a years of classes and clinicals to qualify for the ASCP exam. However, I don't have enough biology credits to apply for the one year program. I took General Biology, Botany (does that even count?) and Microbiology when I was working on my B.S. Does anyone have any recommendations for 2-3 more classes that I should take? I was thinking genetics, molecular biology, and maybe anatomy and physiology. I'm in the Chicago area. Does anybody have recommendations for schools in the area? Oakton seems like a really good value for the biology classes, but I wonder if the classes will be "watered-down" since it's a community college. Finally, does anyone have any recommendations for books or websites for learning more about this career? |
