I have been working as a medical technologist for the past 15 years but just recently they are requiring us to be certified in order to get promotions.

first you need to take CSMLS exam..look it up and then you will be eligibible to register in the college which is CMLTO if you r planning to stay in Ontario, this college will issue ur liscence to work ..

I passed. I only used the Cuvello books and found them very helpful. If you study those books you should do fine.

Thanks I have one question. If during exam we are unable to give any answer of question or give wrong answer. Do we able to correct at the end of test? I schedule test on 10th May.

Hello guys, i need your smart advice urgently please? Im a graduate of MT in the Philippines. I did not take the local boards since I was hired as a flight attendant here in Qatar. I've been doing this flying job for the past 6yrs and now Im planning to practice as an MT in the US. Everytime Im off for a flight or I am at nightstops anywhere in the world I sometimes go through my MT books. I have the Cuviello and Ciulla books with me and of course my Medical Dictionary coz i have difficulties now in understanding some words...hehehe. I fly to the USA every year and realized that I can actually work there as my fall-back career since being a flight attendant wouldnt be of forever career. My question now is, how can I start building my MT career in the States? Preferably in New Jersey Area? Please send me all your honest opinions as experienced MT's? Thankyou very much and Godbless!

hi,
you have to get ur credentials evaluated here in the States do it in one of the licencsed centers that BOR deals with..
an then try tp prepare to go ASCP or equevalent test to get a license to work.

now a days,taking AMT exam is thru computer..dnt worry there will be instructions on how to use the computer during the exams..its easy than the exam paper cz we can edit those answers we want to change.

hi...the tests questions are not similar in the cuviello book...but those are helpful in retaining what u have studied...dnt worry,the exam is easy..you can make it..godbless

hi,i just passed hte AMT exam last year...iv used both two volumes of cuviello.it helped..i started reading it for a month then the 2nd month iv read my reviewer during my review for phil local board to refresh cz my reviewer had a much detailed topics so it was easier for me to study.but cuviello realy helped...

I'm reviewing for my AMT exam using cuviello. Does anyone know when an ATT expires? Is it like one year? I have not applied yet since I don't have a definite date when to take the exam.

hi! when do you consider someone an international applicant? when he/she is a graduate of any university/school outside U.S. or if he/she is applying for AMT and lives outside U.S.? i'm a graduate from the philippines but is residing here in U.S., am i considered an international applicant?

I just recently took my AMT exam last May 14, 2008 and thanks God I made it. I borrowed my reviewer from a friend. I am presently working at heart center as medical sonographer but by profession i am medical technologist and have 2 years experience working as medtech. But am very much disappointed to read from this site that amt is a waste. And this is the reason why am ineterested with the offer of the co partner of pamela buhain

you dont need working experiece to take AMT or ASCPi.you need to pass the board exam in the Philippines if your planning to take ASCPi coz youll be needing your PRC number for you to be able to apply for the ASPCi.about the book i have no idea where to buy it..hope i help u in some ways.Goodluck

just want to know where can i take the AMT & ASCPi exam here in the philippines. i am already a registered medical technologist since 1995-98 but taking only 3 yrs to practice MT, then worked as sales agent for more than 10 yrs, now i'm planning to continue on my profession as RMT would that be possible taking the exam without refresher course? thanks

I'm going to take the ASCP exam in June. I'm studying the ASCP Board of Registry Book Clinical Laboratory Certification Examinations by Barbara Castleberry and some notes. We have a review center here in Bacolod. Thanks to the effort of some people teaching Med. Tech. in UNO-R to help each other so that we can all go to the US. There are not many people who are reviewing though. At least 14 took the exam and only 2 failed. My friends who passed the exam told me not to expect the exam to be easy but I guess I just have to study really hard as what all the others did.

I'm studying the ASCP reviewer found on their website the BOR Clinical Laboratory Certification Examinations Book. I got a copy from a friend whose sister came home from the US. I guess you could buy it from their website. The questions are not very simple and it takes a lot of analytical reasoning to answer them...I also have Clinical Laboratory Science Review by Harr and a Clinical Laboratory Review book by Patsy Jarreau. The ASCP book doesn't have explanations on its answers so it takes a lot of effort to read it and I use the other 2 books as reference. All of the books caame from the US. I think if you have a US contact person maybe you can ask them to buy them a copy for you.

Cuviello manual is suffient coupled with your experience. read through it again and again and you should be fine.

f your presently working as medtech, its ok to take the amt as soon coz the exam is basic and pratical, study micro basic, clin chem and hematology, like you i dont have enough tym studying coz im busy but i did last may 9, 2008
cuviellos s a good reviewer also, the exam is analysis its more like a case study, i know u can make it far beter than i did, GOD BLESS! PRAYER D BEST KEY@!

Unfortunately I am not a MT here. Full time working in an office. Though I was a MT in Pinas... i really appreciate your advices Lian. I wish I could really sit down and focus on reviewing since I am by myself here. Thanks Lian.. i will try to take the Amt before the year ends. God Bless

planned on taking the aab was studing the aab books for 3 months, but everone said amt is easier. so i studied the cuviello books for about 1 week do you think that was enough time to study and do anyone think i stand a chance on passing the amt. taking test on july 7

Hello Belli, I took the test last July and it was very easy. If you have been studying from the Cuviello reference manuals practice all the test exercises at the end of each chapter, that is really helpful.
The test takes 3 hours and there are 210 questions in all the areas,
