MRamirez in Belleville, New Jersey 39 months ago	that's a good score plus with a combination of your stock knowledge and more understanding of the subjects, you will make it, i am sure. The questions are more practical and experiential. If you work in the lab for the past 3 to 5 years, you will have the grasp of the question, common sense counts a lot plus you should be good with process of elimination, that is if you have a good grasp of the subject matter. - Was this comment helpful? If you have the cuviellos manuals and was able to practice all the questions on every subject it will be a big help.Plus the stock knowledge from school. Polansky is also a good source. Some of the questions that was in cuviello, you can find it in Polasnky.Questions from AMT based on my experience were basic. So you wont have a hard time. Ricky in Lewisville, Texas 39 months ago	ASCP-BOR to be sole provider for licensure examinations for New York State On February 4, the ASCP Board of Registry (BOR) was awarded the contract to be the sole provider of licensure examinations for medical technologists (MTs) and medical laboratory technicians (MLTs) for a period of five years by the New York State Education Department. It is a continuation of a previous one-year sole-provider contract that began in December 2007. The anticipated start date for the new contract is July 1, 2009. An amendment to extend the previous contract will cover the interim months. The ASCP-BOR was chosen, in part, because the state of New York was looking for an organization that demonstrated a "wide acceptance of its examinations for these two professions as shown by the number of candidates taking them and the number of jurisdictions using the examinations for certification or licensure purposes." "The ASCP Board of Registry is proud to have been chosen by the State of New York," said Kathleen Becan-McBride, EdD, MT(ASCP)CM, Chair of the ASCP-BOR Board of Governors. "For 80 years, ASCP Board of Registry certification has been the gold standard of laboratory scientists dedicated to quality patient care and continued education." The ASCP will provide four main services as required by the state: Pre-Examination Procedures - a step-by-step candidate processing system, including online application forms, and scheduling of examination dates. Examination Administration - the means to administer a secure examination, including a system for hiring and training the examination administration team, and procuring an examination site. Reporting of Examination Results Job Analysis - evaluation and description of entry-level professional positions in terms of the actual tasks that new licensees can perform safely and competently. Miracle Worker in Belleville, New Jersey 39 months ago	I find it hard to believe that some of our compatriots thrash legitimate American Registry that helps struggling Medical Technologist from their own countries to go abroad and seek greener pastures once they passed any one of these legitimate organization. There is no argument that ASCP is one or "THE ONE", although the name itself connotes an organization belonging to the Pathologists and not Medical Technologists. I am ASCP registered myself but for some of us who can't pass and moved on to take other legitimate registry and make the cut is something hopeful and promising. There is already shortage in the field because it's either of retirement, stop working or shifted to other field that makes more money. Do not focus too much on the title. When you die, all these titles and prestige are all left behind. It's either HEAVEN or HELL! Besides, I know for a fact that you can work in some of the labs. around different States with or without certications or registry. Connections. It's WHO YOU KNOW and not What You Know. Very True some States Licensure is a MUST. You are given a year to work while you're working on becoming qualified and attaining Licensure based on State educational and work experience requirements hence taking and passing State Licensure. - Was this comment helpful? I never known any hospital that tells anynone get this and we will pay you higher than AMT.Sana Man lang kasi kapwa pinoy tayo wag na magyabang na ASCP ka kasi din naman kailanagn ipagyabang yan eh sa totoo lang. - Was this comment helpful?
