I studied continuously for one week 18 hours a day even in my dreams where Q&A. I read ciulla Q&A and the green book. Good luck! Wow! Congrats! So do you find the book of Anna ciulla more helpful since its easier to understand than other books like Harr? Though almost everybody suggested Harr. Please..Need your advise..Thanks |

I passed with ciulla, but if I would be in your case, i will read the 2 books, ciulla and harr. there is no harm reading or reviewing more books. at least 2 so not not to confuse your study. good luck to you. |

welcome: ) I'm also have foreign academic transcript, but I'm a transfer student here in the US. so yups! It should be still ASCP if you applied for ASCP. |
|
solomon in Alexandria, Virginia 32 months ago |
crayons,i am confused because i don't have enough experience in US,so i fear that they give me ASCP international.and if they give me CA license it works as ASCp |
|
crayons in Athens, Georgia 32 months ago |
Don't worry. Just be sure that you have met all their requirements needed before applying for ASCP, otherwise, you will not be eligible to sit for the exam. And fees are non-refundable. Of course, study :) But I'm sure you can ace the exam! |

some peoples also told me that after taking ASCPi,CA state can change it to ASCP.How it is true?

The exam was really hard in the beginning, but once i got used to the questions, it was pretty much downhill. I used the LSU, A bottom line approach and the Valerie Dietz Polandsky review cards, and trust me, that should do it, too much review from different review books will just confuse you.. The questions are not based on memorization, you have to memorize the concepts and apply them. |

I have until Dec 20th to take the exam and am going to try and study some each day and focus more on the Polandsky cards as sometimes Q&A confuses me. Thanks for replying and again congrats on a job well done!!!! |

L. Tech in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina said: Congrats!!! I just got my eligibility letter and will be taking it soon. What did you use to study and how was the exam? Hi, I just passed the exam last Saturday, about 2 weeks after my training program ended. I took 4 days off for Labor Day and did absolutely no studying, then I studied for 10 days using BOR 5th ed. and the Polansky flash cards. I agree with cls12, the exam was difficult in the very beginning, to me not because the actual questions were difficult, but because of the type of questions, and how they are phrased. Once I got used to the that, it was ok. The questions are not straightforward; most of them are troubleshooting questions. They require critical thinking. The few straightforward questions I got asked were about obscure things.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the BOR 5th edition is useless. There are tons of mistakes in it, alot in the UA/BF and Immuno sections in particular. #304 in the Hemo section there is supposed to be a picture of a platelet aggregation curve and it isn't even there. Alot of the explanations aren't very thorough either. The Polansky flash cards and Harr are probably better investments of your time. |

chitrasharma79@gmail.com in Sacramento, California said: hi, I heart MJ I didn't take a review class...I took the exam almost right after my training. So you are saying you graduated from your training program 13 years ago? I think it will be alot tougher to pass the exam that way. So I agree a review class might help you, but I don't know of any. Have you been working in a medical lab during the 13 year gap? That might help. Please don't give up :) |

ya i worked almost 10 yrs in Haematology (INDIA) . but FOR THIS EXAM I NEED TO TAKE REVIEW CLASSES . PLZ LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW ANY. |
|
I heart MJ in Sacramento, California 32 months ago |
Listen, $hitrasharma, you need to calm down and stop using the Caps Lock key. If you had bothered to read my post you would know that I went through a training program and did not need some overpriced review class. If all you have been doing the last 10 years is working in hemo in India you are most likely going to need more than just a review class. |

happybigfeet in Newark, California said: I heart MJ in Sacramento, California Yes I totally forgot, ASCP has practice tests you can buy. I did them to see how much studying I needed to do before the exam. I also did some mock exams using the CD-ROM that comes with the Harr book. The real exam doesn't have much molecular on it...I didn't get any molecular questions and at the most if you get any it will be 1 or 2 I think, its not a huge part of the exam. I only got 1 management type question and it was really easy.

Just took the test yesterday, and passed. I studied with these books:
I studied the "bottom line book" cover to cover, taking breaks to test my knowledge with the BOR review book, taking notes, and discussing some concepts with classmates. I took into consideration the overall exam percentage of the sections that I covered. Hemo, Chem, Micro, Blood Bank are the big 4. When I got home, I'd practice taking the test with the CD that came with the Robert Harr book. The questions on the exam were a lot like the questions in the BOR book, but mostly without "keyword" clues in the questions, and with much more obscure information. Out of 100, I only really knew 5-6 questions. It's a challenging test. Good luck to you all. |
