I have a Master's degree in Biology and a Bsc degree in Biotechnology. I have worked for one year at a (non-molecular)clinical laboratory in California. Other than the research experience i do not have any out side molecular lab experience .

My question is am i eligible to take the (ASCP)exam to become a CLS ?

I highly appreciate any suggestions or comments .
Thank you...

California requires that you do a one-year internship that is approved by the state before you can take the exam. Even if you have experience that's equivalent to the internship, it doesn't matter. You have to jump through the hoops. Also, to qualify for the internship you'll need to have taken certain specific classes. You can find a list of approved internships at www.camlt.org/train.html . It all takes a long time but I think it's well worth it if you want a career working in the lab.
