Hi, ASCP is important if you wany to work in the US. Some state licensing boards will want you to get it before they can license you.

i am a BS medical technology graduate in the philippines with a ASCPi cerftification. i would like to ask anyone if i would still need an AACRAO evaluation for my ASCPI to be converted to CLS. if i do need one, what type should i apply for? a course-by-course or a basic? thank you.

there's no need for AACRAO evaluation if you are a graduate fr. the Phil. Just request your college school registrar to send your credentials with internship rotations to LFS.

in order to get a floria medtech license in all areas you would have to have 3 yrs working experience in all areas because you are international, which ever department that you worked for three yrs you can only get license fo that department and your internship is included in the 3yrs, i am presently applying for my florida medtech license right now and im internationl, you can email me at navadeanl@gmail.com and we can discuss futher

hello I am a 24 year old Irish student
I have completed an undergraduate five year course in Ireland in Biomedical
Science.
With Hematology and Blood transfusion as my major and clinical chemistry as my
minor though I have clinical experience in all five disciplines.
Currently I am completing a postgraduate course in the university of Ulster in
the United Kingdom, a
leading european centre for Biomedical research with all A's.
Once this is completed I'm very eager to move to America MA in particular.
However I cant seem to find a direct explanation of what I need to do to begin
this process, e.g, what licenses I need to obtain or exams etc
could you please help me?
Anything you have to help would really be appreciated! I'm keen to get started
as Im sure this is a long process

Most hospitals post their job openings on their website. You should do as follows:
1 - determine what state and city in the US yo want to live and work
2 - research the state licensing and/or certification requirements
3 - take and pass required exams
4 - do a google search of hospitals within the city you want to work and live
5 - go directly to the hospital website and click on careers/jobs. It will list all current job openings. You can even contact the HR directly to see if they will sponsor.

In 2008, the state of California ceased administering the CLS (generalist) licensing exam. ASCP, ASCPi and AAB certification exams have been approved for CA licensure. California has a 4-year look back, if you passed your ASCPi within the last 4 years, you can 1)apply for a California CLS license with the CA Dept of Health, Laboratory Field Services, 2) request your university to forward original transcripts to LFS, 3) submit required documentation/attestation, 4) request ASCPi to forward your a copy of your certification to Laboratory Field Services. Once you have submitted all requirements, LFS will send you a confirmation letter, assign you a Unique ID number and instruct you to take the online California Law Quiz (simple 10 questions test). In order for LFS to issue your CA license you must have a valid Social Security Number. For more information, you can visit the LFS website at: www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/lfs/Pages/ClinicalLaboratoryScientists.aspx

I need help please. I am really confused on what to do next after receiving the qualified letter. I already requested Verification of Certification from National Student Clearinghouse (same time that I submitted my application to LFS)and my status is Confirmed. But I don't know if they already sent it to LFS because the qualification letter says:
"If you have already passed a California approved certifying
organization exam, you must provide us a confirmation of successful passing certifying organization
exam by contacting them and requesting the information to be sent to LFS. You can use the unique
identification number in this approval letter when contacting your certifying organization.
LFS must receive the successful passing result from the certifying organization within 150 days of
your application for licensure by the State of California or your application will be abandoned."

Dear Chini,

The letter is simply informing you that your application has been confirmed by LFS, you now need to show proof that you have successfully passed one of the California approved certification exams given by the ASCP/ASCPi or AAB organizations.

If you have taken and passed one of the exams, contact contact the ASCP or AAB organization and provide them with the unique ID number stated in your LFS approval letter. The organization will then forward your results to LFS showing proof that you have passed the exam - You have 150 days to submit this information, if you fail to provide the information within 150 days, LFS will deem your application to be abandoned and you will need to reapply and pay the fees again.

Once LFS has receives the information from ASCP or AAB, they will issue your California CLS license.

If you have not taken the California approved certification exams, you will need to study (join the AMA CLS Review Program), apply to take the ASCP or AAB exams, and submit proof to LFS that you have successfully passed the ASCP or AAB exam within 150 days.
