I have 20+ years of experience doing medical transcription, including inpatient and outpatient clinic notes. I have now partially retired but would like to do transcription at home, online preferred. I am finding that the earnings are fairly meager for doing home based transcription for large services. Therefore, I am interested in marketing my experience and skills to small primary health care organizations or specialty practices, but have to keep my hours as part-time. I would appreciate suggestions about how I might accomplish this. |

Although the above ad was not generated by myself and I don't fully understand its origin,it is essentially correct in content except for a couple of points. I have never lived in Huntington, VT, and I will only do transcription out of my home office, online or tapes. Please make these corrections. Thank you. |

I am an RN and have recently graduated from At-Home Professions Medical Transcriptionist Course and am having difficulty in finding a part time postions working from home. It seems that most places want you to pay them to put out lists of postitions available. They don't take into account that I have been an RN, mostly hospital based in OB/GYN for 30 years. If anyone is interested, e-mail me at kbrzuch@buckeye-express.com |

In order to gain a certificate, as in Certified Medical Transciptionits (CMT), you need two years experience before you can even test to become a CMT. A certificate from a school is essentially same as a diploma. |

Thank you for the info. Rene |

Yes, I am still seeking employment. I have not been pushing it too much this summer because I am so busy, but starting in August, I will be pushing for a position like crazy. Do you have something or some employment agency in mind? Kahry |

Hi, You probably should go to the Medical Transcriptionist Site and see what schools are endorsed by them if you decide to take classes from home. You also can get a book published by the Medical Transcriptionist Association and after reading up on transcription, try hospitals, doctors offices, and look in the phone book for transcription services and get a resume together and contact them to see if they could use your services. Good luck!!!!! |

Lynn: Trans Am is better known as Transcam. They will charge you $500 and promise a job upon meeting their requirements. Yo never will meet them, no one does. Check out the Better Business Bureau website and u will find all nothing but negativity. Do not give them money it is a waste of your time and money. Also, you will probably need a refresher if you have not done it in 20 years. MT is not an easy field to get in to without the proper, current MT training. Good luck |

Hi, I have been transcribing for 9 years in a small town but never received a certificate. I have a multitude of experience including hospital surgeries, admissions, discharges, opthalmology, and mainly chiropractic, which is all that I do now. I'm looking for full time work over the net. Should I take an MT course, or would someone give me a chance? I have references. Thanks. |

Ever read the papers? People are losing their homes here, I think outsourcing is a disgusting practice. |

I agree Joy. Why should Americans work to cushion the pockets of companies in India or other countries. Americans work for/in America. |

Give it a try, you never know what you will come up with. Doctor's offices and clinics may give you a try especially since you have references. |

Yes, I have worked off and on for the last 10 years at home for different doctors in my small town of Perry, 50 miles S of Tallahassee. Right now, there is not a lot of work and I am looking for something on line. Do you know of anything? |
