Hello -

I am a new MT graduate and looking for MT work myself. I just recently graduated the MT program through EVCC where I obtained job leads during my last quarter. I have created a blog to help other future and current MTs in finding a job and sharing information I learned in my course.
There are lots of MT services out there that are in need of MTs, especially with experience and these are WORK FROM HOME POSITIONS. If you are interested check out my blog at www.workathometranscription.blogspot.com/

I will always be posting new information as well as job leads. If you are looking for the job leads, scroll down towards the bottom of the page and it will be on the right hand side. I am currently working on building the leads list, so you can always check there for new links.

I hope this helps and good luck to you all!!

What kind of experience do you need and what are your qualifications I use to work in a doctors office as an MA and they showed me about dictations

Melaney, Thank you for the info and website heads-up. I recently graduated from MT school, and have been having quite a time landing a position. I am a (former) licensed insurance agent, and decided to leave my position for a career change.
I checked out your website, and would like to thank you for it- I found it very informative, and in fact, applied for a position just today. I am hoping against hope that I will land something soon. I had almost given up hope, as all of the job offers I have seen require at least 1 year experience. I have been applying to non-transcription jobs for the past few months because I simply must work, but it's getting tough out there in the job market, no matter what type of position one applies for.
Just wanted to thank you for the tips, and of course, for the job listings.

I am glad to hear that you have applied for a position. It is hard to get that first MT job and you are not the only one. Have you had any training? If you have, then all the practice reports you have done in your training qualify as EXPERIENCE. Some other great ways to help open up doors for you is becoming a registered medical transcriptionist, once you have done so you are more likely to land something, also you would qualify for the registered apprenticeship program which allow you to work and get paid, get benefits, and gain experience. A lot of the times medical transcription companies ask that you have completed some kind of medical transcription course, but if you have done transcription work and have worked as an MA, you might have a lot of the qualifications to pursue and MT job. You could try looking for clinic note positions, which are typically easier and at an entry level. If you could get something like that, that will help you gain more experience as an MT and open more doors for you.

Mely...
Just an update. I received a call yesterday, and things are moving pretty quickly with the position I applied for. It seems like a great company; they have been a pleasure to deal with over the phone. Just this morning I faxed back some info they needed from me, so hopefully I am "on the way."
Thanks again for the tips- I will keep you updated; just wanted to say how much I appreciate it.
