Hi everyone,

I'm considering entering medical transcription or coding. I'm wondering who here did their training online. I read on here that Andrews, CareerStep, and M-Tec are the best. It seems Andrews is twice the price of CareerStep, however!

Also, do you work full-time or part-time? I'm wondering if this is something I can do part-time while working a regular full-time job. Thank you in advance!

The cost difference is primarily because CS doesn't have instructors or professionally written textbooks. Since there are no instructors, the students grade each other using a "grader." CS also offers fewer minutes of dictation and fewer reports than Andrews and M-Tec. Don't choose your school based on cost alone.

Lots of MTs work part time, but it's very difficult when you're new at it, so working two jobs might be very difficult for you.
