I have some unemployment credits for training in a new job. I'm looking into CareerStep (online) out of Utah and Kaplan Univ. in Harrisburg. I recently moved from Kutztown to Harrisburg and am trying to find my notes when unemployment reps came into my job. CareerStep knows unemployment works with online schools in some states but not sure about Penna.

Does anyone have any insights? I like the idea of online because I want to take this time to work on some health issues, exercise again, lose weight, and work PT since I have the opportunity to collect unemployment.

I'd like to work part time in this field too. I was formerly the legal secretary to a senior partner of a law firm and we were counsel for the Lehigh VAlley Hospital Center's malpractice cases. So I am familiar from transcribing dictation tapes on these cases and summarizing depositions. Since I type between 90-100 wpm, I would really like to do this part time which I study and while I give some time for me. But when my boyfirend found out what the Harrisburg hospital use for their service, I found they want 2 years experience. Isn't there any service out their (I don't know if transcriptions tapes could be mailed or voice mails done via the telephone), but I have enough determination and typine expertise to do it, I just want a chance.....anyone know where to try???

Any help on any of these topics would be GREAT appreciated!!!

Cheryl

I feel your pain. I was wondering whether or not to finish the CareerStep program. I don't have much further to go, but I would like to find employment in this area and not waste my time. My background is in administration. It's been rough trying to find work out in the Hershey/Harrisburg, PA region. I'm originally from New Jersey myself. Best of luck.
