Tanya. This is Dan. If you don't want to spend money. Just go to Mission College and ask a counselor to help you.Mission College has a pilot program with Cabrillo College and cheaper way to get you RN without getting sponsorship. You probably have to take the microbiology in Mission College.then apply in RN program. There are 2 more semester after completing microbiology and you are done. You don't have to spend a lot of money probably at least 4 to 5 thousand dollars compared to a private school (28k) just time and preseverance only.bye.e-mail me back if you got time. |

I have completed all my prerequisites in order to be accepted into an LVN or RN program. The only problem is all the community colleges in my area have ridiculous wait lists of up to three years just to get into the LVN program. Would anyone happen to know a good private college in the Inland Empire area where I can finish my schooling quick? |

I am not aware of the cost or their reputation but you should be prepare to pay quite a bit for a private institution. |

|
Grace in Burlingame, California 49 months ago |
Why don't you CLEP out of those subjects. You can definitely CLEP out of math, English and chemistry. You'll need to study for an exam and it costs I think about $60. www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html |

Deborah Griffith in Oakland, California said: I don't have microbiology. Any suggestions for acquiring this class before the next session begins. I have been reading this thread and thought that people should be aware that Unitek is not a Nationally Accredited college. Yes, they are accredited with the California State Board of Nursing so you will be able to board for your license once you graduate. Later on if you want to transfer into a University for a degree in nursing (BSN) that is where you will hit a wall. This can be verified at the U.S Department of Educations website and I suggest everyone to check out the school they are considering before they spend a ton of money. ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx |

Thanks for clarifying that subject matter since everybody wants to do accelerated transition to RN but hence this school charges a lot of money. I am one of the LVN who is trying to get into transition to RN for a minimal fee.

hi, I am interested in LVN or RN program. I have a B.A degree but is wondering which school has the least prerequisite to get in the programs? I don't want to spend tons of money, and my ideal is going to a Community College. Also, in terms of the job market, does LVN fresh grad manage to find a job easily? Thanks for sharing your experience |

Thanks for sharing your experience I'm a newly licensed LVN. I've only been looking for a month but every place I apply to says they are not hiring. I'm getting frustrated. If I don't find anything by the end of the summer I will probably move out of state. |

I feel your frustration as I am in the same situation. I have been working in the school as a Teacher Aide and then last year I was laid off. There seem to be just no work for me...I am thinking of going back to nursing instead of pursuing my certification. I had a foreign RN and OBGYN and expired certification. I am thinking of challenging the State Board Exam for LVN and later to RN. Would anyone help me out with this information if this is possible or do I have to start from all the way to the very beginning? Thank you and hoping to have a reply:-) |

Also, I'll be moving to LA in a year, so I really don't know whether I should apply there or here. Really, I think it is bad everywhere in CA. From what I understand, the VA is largely on a hiring freeze. I have called so many places today and very few are hiring. A handful have part-time positions. I have applied to 20 places over the last month without a single call back. I call to follow through but I am told the same thing. I have applied for endorsement in North Carolina since my brother lives there. I'll give it until the end of summer but if I am still jobless, I will have to move. |
