America is a nation of Immigrants as long as the nurses are here legally why not. Foreigners have a significant advantage over the Indiginous in that many of them are travelled and have experienced worse, it's easier for them to identify a gold mine

Hello Claudia, I am also a foreign trained nurse and I came here 8 months ago. My goal is to pursue nursing here but the process is long. The big difference between me and you is that I am alredy in a process on getting my green card through my marriage with a US citizen. As soon I have it I can start my process to become a nurse here in the USA. For you, you need to contact a sponsor such as O'GRADY PEYTON or some others to sponsor you so that you can take either the CGFNS or the NCLEX-RN(or both depending on the state where you are right now. I can tell you that it is quite easy with New York state.

im surprised you should say that. Do a search and see how much percentage of the nurses are yours. You dont take the opportunity to use what your country has to offer so that is why they hire foreigners to take the jobs, because you are not utilizing your resources. So its there to be given, we foreigners will take it. watch!!

Yes, Florida Hospital sponsors foreign immigrants. If you are an RN with 1+ year experience in ICU, PCU, or ED apply for FLorida Hospital Discovery Experience.

Jerry--Not sure if that remark was in sarcasm or not! :)

You are qualified for this unique leadership program with potential job opportunity if you:
1) Hold an active RN license
2) Have at least 1+ year experience in ICU, PCU, or ED.
3) BCLS & ACLS certified

If that's you, go for it -- www.discoverfloridahospital.com

Well speaking as a descendant of Native Americans let me inform you of the facts. My ancestors lost ownership of this country during wars fought to establish the United States as a country. When this country (USA) was established, we wrote a constitution and a great many other laws have been written since. We all abide by those laws on pain of punishment. All of us. Every country on the planet has similar laws and some of those laws involve proper emigration from and immigration to other countries.

Everyone who is a citizen of any country has the right to call (and treat) others as foreigners as regards their own country. The USA is by no means a free for all. If you don't believe that, Seattle, go try to get into the UK or into France as anything but a tourist.

Hi Evy,
Im judith and also from Kenya but currently in the US. You have actually done this at a wrong time because they just stopped issueing any VISAS for foreign nurses. I also passed my NCLEX boards here about 3months ago and just working using a work permit. I dont know whether kenya is one of the countries that you dont have to retake the exam once you are here.but, if i hear something i will definately let you know. otherwise its a bad time for us too and they have completely put a hold on all foreing nurses' entrance to America, I sure do hope you get a sponsor but pray harder. I will be looking out. take care

Hello, my name is Tim Armes, I’m with the Nurses Lounge Magazine.

We have just transformed our web site into a Professional and Social Network for the Nursing Profession (much like the bigger social sites such as My Space and Face Book but without all the nonsense that must be endured there)

We envision The Nurses’ Lounge to be a fun and productive network that connects you with other Nursing professionals with similar social and professional interests as yours. Pretty much like the physical ones you find at work...but world wide!

The fact is that in order to make it a productive network for the nursing community We need RN’s like yourself that have something to say and an entertaining way of saying it.

If you have time please stop by and have a look around. We would love to have you as a member.

The link to our site is www.nurseslounge.com

Oh, and if you know other nurses that would be great members please pass this along.

Thanks

Tim Armes

Are you here on a tourist visa? it really depends on the visa type. Also, you still need the visa screen certificate even if you are already here. this is for immigration purposes and many hospitals do NOT sponsor without it.

That is a very stupid comment for that person in illinois to make. He/She should think before making such comments. How come there is a shortage for nurses and especially RN's? It goes to show how ignorant this person is

visa screen took about 5 months it is very slow process. You can take NCLEX about less 1 month after graduation from Nursing program. Sponship is useless at this moment because US government is not issuing green card through employeer now. The place that i am working at being sponser for me but still i cannot get my green card :(

I am finishing up my RN program here in Columbia and take my NCELX in January. I just received my OPT for 12/15/07 to 12/15/08 and would like to work but can't seem to be finding a hospital who would sponsor me. I would like to move into the Baltimore area in Maryland but wouldn't mind other states, as well.

Any help would be appreicated as I have studied so hard for so long and it would be sad if I would have to leave because I can't find a job.

one more thing don't tell them (the hospitals) that you need sponsorship. all they need to know is you have right to work work here legally. it is illegal for them to ask you for how long and what kind of legal status you have. There is no benefit of having sponsorship right now anyway because the us government doesnt allow it. that's why i am going to go be skilled immigrant for Canada. At least Canadian government values skilled immigrants and gives them Canadian green card right away. They dont torture like here. try this web site www.workpermit.com US is not the only option for RNs there are many options. the US government keep saying there is shortage in nursing yet not doing anything instead they are loosing the ones they have here. good luck

Hi, I'm an spanish immigrant, I came here with a student visa, and I did not leave. I was studiying Business, but then I changed my major to nursing--which I enjoy--, to fix my migration status. I took the prenursing courses, and now it became hard to try to get in a nursing program in the colleges of this state. My question is, Which hospitals in Long Iisland, NYC or NJ will offer me a immigration sponsorship when I finish my career?
