I already have my degree in nursing and my license is current but I have not worked for 5 years because of a disability. I am fine now and in good health. Please help me return to want I love to do. I have been a rn for 25 years and did well in my field of geriatrics. My e-mail id is cruff89@yahoo.com.. Relocating if necessary is not a problem.

I too have taken off for 2-3 years at a time over the past 16 years as an RN. Following the first "hiatus" I returned to a acute care facility to "sharpen my skills". The hospital was small and without a good preceptor program. My confidence did not improve with this situation. I did learn though, the old riding a bike phrase applies to nursing. Once you go through school and practice for so many years it is in you. I recently completed a CCRN course to help me brush up on changes in the field. This was very helpful. I think it has been just the thing to get my self-confidence back after being out of nursing. I believe you may also find that it is more about self confidence than what you are lacking in skills and knowledge. At least that is what I am experiencing as I negotiate through the endless possibilities of how I can once again practice what I love.
