Hi,I recently saw your post looking for an RN, I recently got my RN license two months ago and I am very enthusiastic to get my foot in the door working with lasers.

A little about myself: In May 2010, I graduated Bacone College with an Degree in Nursing. I completed my preceptership at Muskogee Regional Medical Center in the Psychiatric Department where I performed a number of duties; such as administering medications, taking vital signs, performing assessments, charting, and patient care. My main objective and goal is to become a Laser Nurse and branch forward from there.

I am very goal oriented and my attention to detail and organization coupled with my educational background, which has provided me with great tools and knowledge, will allow me to be a substantial contributor to your facility.

To have the opportunity to work for your organization would be a great step forward in my career. I am available to work at any times and any days including weekends and holidays.

I welcome the opportunity to discuss this position in person at your convenience. If there is any additional information you would like me to provide, please feel free to contact me. I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Mandip Dhillon, RN

Ironically I have a friend that is an ER nurse and has worked in trauma also. She does aesthetic nursing and was trained by the doctor I spoke about. She also works for him part time as well as other aesthetic practices. Name is Dr. Kojian. Google him and tell me what you think. I will give you my personal email after that and then give you his personal cell# for training, (that's how he schedules for training sessions.)
One place you might look in to is laser lipo centers. I just spoke to a representative there at the begining of the week and they indicated they do not need experienced RN's. The rep advised they are willing to train. Not sure if it was just for that facility or all of their facilities but I would look in to that. The pay may not be that great starting off so you may have to compensate. Usually, you are self employed (1099) employee and must carry libability insurance, (Califonia is a mandatory 1 mill coverage). I know a broker that can work with you for a reasonable monthly payment in order to have 1mill coverage. Once you look up Dr. Kojian. If you're interested, I will fill you in on the rest of the ins/outs of the industry when you're ready to go forward.

Take Care!!

Hcampos in Huntington Beach, California said: Hi Sontas77!!

I have worked in dermatology, cosmetic surgery, and aesthetics for about 7 years. I guess I got started right when the profession was getting "hot". I started in admin, worked my way up as an MA, LPN, and now RN. I live in Huntington Beach and you're correct, a lot of places want nurses with experience or are only willing to hire MA's. If a job posts for an MA, you may have to inquire whether they would consider an RN with minimal experience. If you have any surgical experience, glorify that on your resume. Also, get involved in some online seminars, conventions, or training that involves aesthetics. The aesthetic training can get pretty pricey so be aware and do your research!!!! Where area of Cali do you live in and I might be able to suggest a good trainer for BOTOX, fillers, and lasers to get you started. He charges around 1200.00 for a two day class but he is a doctor and is very good and comes highly recommended. Lot's of aesthetic skin care magazines will post upcoming seminars or training events. If you can get ahold of them that would also be a good a place to start. (Try your hair salon, an aesthetician, beauty school, or massage therapist, they usaully have those magazines in their waiting area or their breakroom). Good Luck!!!

Hello! Iwas reading this web-site looking for an answer to my question Where can I train to give Dermal Injections, I am an RN working in Medical Acute Hospital and I would love to learn during my days off! I live in San Luis Obispo butI am willing to drive to LA.Please help!!!! Thank you, Nora

Hi, Nora,
Certainly! Our products are based on an internal + external approach to skin health, helps with cellular energy and longevity, hormonal balance, oxidative stress and inflammation from the inside out. You may click on my name "CellularSkinCare" in the post identity area to link to my website, as I don't think I can post it here.

We have treatment products which include a 20% Acid Peel pH 3.55 with glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids. A beauty gadget with galvanic+ far infrared+ ultrasound+ vibration functions which can be used in a spa and continued at home.

We have signed the Compact with SafeCosmetics.org and have skin issues line for acne, eczema, rosacea and psoraisis as well as makeup and other products coming.

Easy to demo and retail sell if that's all you would like to do.

It is an excellent product line to continue spa treatments at home, bringing the skin to a much improved condition between treatments.

You may contact me through the site if you like and leave your email there if you would like a sample and more information.
Best wishes,
Candy

Hi Nicole, Im currently looking into working in the field of Laser Thearpy but the Texas Board of Nurses (BON) now has a position statement stating it is no longer acceptable for RN BSN's to work in the field of Laser Thearpy without a Medical director present. I have, at this point, researched going into this field a great deal. There is a Dallas school that offers, 5 day training to RN's & MD's for laser training & 7 day for laser & botox injections to RN's & MD's. It is a two week coarse for persons that are not health porfessionals and they must work with a medical director. I've decided that if it is the RN portion of my Education that is holding me back I will gladly advertise myself as "University of Texas Bachelor of Health Science Laser Treatment Specialist" and drop the RN Signification altogether if it will help me get into this field. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appresheated.

I also had no experience in the field but secured more than one position working in the aesthetics industry. In fact, I'd been absent from direct patient care for almost 15 years before applying for a position as a medical aesthetic nurse. I did not accept the first position offered to me because I didn't feel I would get the clinical foundation necessary to do the job well. (I'm not pursuing these positions for the money.)I finally landed a position with a plastic surgeon last year, and I am interviewing at as medical spa next week.

How did I do it? Well, I write compelling cover letters and resumes. Second, I communicate what I can do for them, not what I they can do for me. If anyone wants to contact me about how to do it, feel free to email me at afceducation48123@aol.com.

Only physicians are allowed to perform these procedures. In California an RN is not allowed to perform Botox fillers etc without direct physicians supervision. It's against the law. They stand loosing their license or being sanctioned by state of cal.

Hi, JackieRN -

Sure, here is some free advice: Save your money! I wouldn't recommend you take the classes (certification courses); no one is going to hire you because you went through a two-day course to learn about neurotoxins and dermal fillers.

I've been inundated with requests from nurses who want to break into the field. To meet this need, I produced an audio recording (MP3 and, if requested, a CD) explaining how I and others made the transition. It is a casual 40-minute presentation packed with great how-to information on differentiating yourself from other "aesthetic nurse wantabes" so you get noticed by medical spas and physicians.

Feel free to contact me at afceducation48123@aol.com for more information.

Kindest regards,

Jackie

Hi, Pam -

I'm sorry you are having trouble finding a medical aesthetics job. I got a job with a medical spa and a plastic surgeon after a 15 year absence from patient-contact nursing and without medical aesthetics experience. I teach other nurses how to do the same. My contact information is above.

By the way, I did not even go through any type of certification course prior to applying for the jobs.
