Just curious if any other travel nurses are having a hard time securing an assignment. I've only been at it head strong for 2 weeks now and I'm waiting for a phone interview any day now! I have applied for several travel agencies to make sure I have more than 1 person looking for me, I also follow up with all the agencies I'm registered with several times a week. It's almost a full time job just doing this but I know I'll have a position come through eventually. My speciality is NICU which is also my problem.... I hear ER is still going strong! |

I was also wondering if other's have registered with more than 1 agency and if you are getting call backs from hospitals. I'm hoping for a position in California or Guam... but have my profile in at 8 other hospitals... hopefully after the holidays something will happen! |

Yes, I was a traveller for 7 years and finally gave it up after the assignments petered out in my area (Midwest). Took a staff job and then resigned after having a baby. Looking to start back now after 18 months but in spite of all my experience, having a terrible time even getting nurse recruiters to acknowledge my existence. Wondering if this is par for the course during the recession or I'm being passed over in favor of cheaper labor i.e. new grads? A few years ago, I used to land jobs in less than 24 hours, now I feel like I'm constantly filling out applications that no one even bothers to read. It's very frustrating to say the least. RNs are NOT recession proof! |
