To become Medicare certified in South Carolina, you need a Certificate of Need (CON). There is currently no need in Mrytle Beach. I really would not trust anybody that can't even spell Medicaid. Also, there is no form to get you Medicare funds, just the CON process which is quite complicated.

Kevin, what is going on with the incorrect spelling and grammatical errors? If you want people to take you seriously then speak properly.

Hi everyone, I submitted in a NYS application for home care licensure in 2009, at the time of the moratorium. The Bureau has just recently started reviewing applications again. I handed in some extra follow-up information that they requested a few months ago but I have not heard from them since. For those who are currently in the review process or have already been through it, can you please shed some light on how long the review process usually takes? Also, does it make a difference, in terms of review process speed, whether I call them about the status of the application or not? I would greatly appreciate any input on this matter. Thank you!

FINALLY!! I JUST GOT APPROVED FOR A RSA SKILL/NON-SKILL MEDICAL HOME CARE AGENCY THE (RSA) Very comprehensive, with aspects of skill care, peds and adults, physically/mentally challenged, mother-baby, psychiatric nursing e.t.c It took me almost 2 years to write all the policies for skill care, vents, IV but it was worthy my time. I confess bought manuals online, had people write for me some sketch ones for pay but all of them were crap and ver generic to pass scruitiny by the saveyors who check these policies for completness and appropriation, what they call reviews.
My background is I am an RN with 15 years experience, multifacet many areas of nursing. I would not hestitate to help if anyone need help!! I am so exicited and happy! Anyone suggestions of for a home health care computer package that is user friendly and specific for home care operation and management?? contact me at cec2000s@yahoo.com

Think about a staffing agency first. There is much less regulation, and the way Medicare cuts are being applied to HHC agencies in the future, the margin for profit is becoming slimmer and slimmer. Esp in Phoenix area, that is one of the top hot spots, ( excuse the pun) for exponential growth of the greater than 80 crowd. Good luck!

As you are going through the process, you need to make sure you are bringing on people who can offer home care. It will be a lot of multi tasking, but you need to make sure you have those to work for you when the demand is had. Talk to any home care las vegas or other region and ask them how they went about it. My mother works with selecthomecare.com/branches/nevada/las-vegas-office. You could get more information from them or another owner.

Ryan Jones in Miami, Florida said: Paul,

Firstly, there is more than one kind of "Nursing Agency" and each requires a variety opening costs. Secondly, do not assume this is an easy business, more so in Miami, FL. The hardest place to have this type of business is South Florida due to the rules & regulations and now the scrutiny we have by the federal government due to fraud.

Unless you have months to study all the old laws and the new laws and the know how to implement them all into your business, you will fail.

It is a difficult process but made easier if you hire an expert guide you through the whole process.

AHCA will not make this easy for you!

Hi all,
I work with a national home care franchise company that provides both non-medical and skilled medical care. We are the ONLY franchise company that manages the licensing process and Joint Commission accreditation of behalf of our franchisees. We have more income streams available than any other franchise company as well. I would be more than happy to provide more details. If you are thinking of opening your own business...might be an option to take a quick look at. Feel free to email me at jwadsworth@careminders.com

Ohio is relatively an easier state to open a Home Health Agency. In fact, Ohio's department of health is quite delinquent in their knowledge of home health. You can provide services without a state license but in order to become Medicare Certified you will need to undergo Accreditation. You will need policies & procedures, a decent capital to work with, and great skills as a manager.

What a great forum - glad I came across it! In reading through all the posts from the past 44 months, it's surprising to read from some consultants who want to help others start their agency, yet come across very unprofessional. A veteran agency owner for over 10 years, may I suggest getting a step-by-step guide to starting an agency. Know what you’re entering up front, then employ consulting services when you're stuck.

For those who are asking: But How Do I Start a home care company? What's involved, how much does it cost, how do I do it, where do I start, etc?. I will answer those questions after I share my background. I've been blessed with over 10 years success as founder/CEO of numerous agencies in the home care industry, 20 years as an entrepreneur. Starting in early 2000's, I launched, built, acquired and sold several home care agencies. Growing from nothing to employing hundreds of employees, serving many thousands of clients.

I share this because recently I compiled two decades of entrepreneurial and home care experience, wisdom, tips and secrets to the this industry and put them in an easy to follow book: "Home Care How To - The Guide To Starting Your Home Care Business". The book is a step-by-step, how to get started and grow your agency guide. It answers the questions of the industry before you enter it and includes the forms and resources you'll need to get started and growing. At the website you'll find a blog with helpful articles for running your agency as well as the contacts and info to obtaining proper licensing in each individual state (medical and non-medical). Find it at the website: HomeCareHowTo.com

As I looked through the several years of posts and saw the many folks advertising their consulting to answer basic setup questions, some even rude and greedy about it, I felt I had to share this with the forum users as an inexpensive alternative/resource to help those getting started and growing. homecarehowto.com Thanks.
