Hoping in Tampa, Florida said: I have a BSN degree from accredited nursing school, and unrestricted Florida RN lincense. I have experienced for four years in Progressive Care Unit and Telemetry exhausting F1/OPT with extentions. I was able to get an I-140 approval from previous hospital I worked with. Currently, enrolled at a local university and working as School nurse at the same school while studying. I am looking for recruiter or hospital to sponsor if possible. Hey, how did you get your OPT extended? Was it because you had a pending I-140? I got a job at a hospital in NY on a cardiac telemetry unit, and I've been working there since august 2011, but they don't sponsor so they said that I should try a nursing agency to sponsor me so that they can retain me after my OPT expires this july. However, nursing agencies only sponsor greencards for nurses which takes a long time. |

pintakasi in San Diego, California said: Passing the state boards is just the first step. even if you did and you have no authorization to work here, risking it is not worth it. You are on a tourist visa and surely you will not be given a social security number, so how can you work? There are no more facilities/hospitals that petition foreign trained nurses. Yes, there are millions of job posts but none of them are being filled as quickly as a need arises for there is a shortage of US trained nurses who have already passe the boards. Some nursing students think that once the NCLEX is passed it can give them a job, but no hospital would take you if you have no hospital experience. so there is not much you can do. Do not gamble your legal tourist visa just to stay on it is not worth it. The justice system and the legal system here is very different and the educational system is different too. well said!!!! |

Guys, if you're looking for staffing agency ask them if they provide shadowing or training, especially if you're assigned in hospital because the setting here is really different. |

Am having a hard time finding job as a new graduate RN.I have my license here in california after taking the NCLEX which i passed, so please can anyone help me find job or any where they hire new graduate RN. thanx. you only can get into the new grad RN program if you have less than 12 months of experience in nursing. That includes the country you went to nursing school. I have the same problem, I'm about to take the NCLEX and then looking for a job in CA. Try the bigger cities like SD or LA and/or bigger hospitals, they mostly offer a new grad program. I'd also email human resources and find out if you're considered a new grad within their standards. Good luck! |

don't worry about people posting that there aren't enough jobs for nurses. I think you're just in the wrong state. There are jobs in other states you just have to broaden your horizons. My take in this is that the labor market for nurses will open again, and if you've passed all your exams already, you've already got at least one foot in the door. Instead of doing all of it as soon as it opens up. by then, everyone who's passed the nclex and submitted the requirements would be way ahead of you. |

Hi! I just came to the US last March 28 with an immigrant visa. I hold an inactive RN license in IL and I am hoping to find a job. I have a year of experience in ER nursing and 3 years in nursing education. I am on the process of restoring my IL license as soon as my SSN arrives in the mail. Hope somebody out there can help me. Thanks! |

Oh! am sorry to hear that. But there are better ways of channeling your grievances than this way. Be careful what you post online. you never know who see it. You never know who can help you. If you keep making such comments, you will drive your potential employer away from this site. Have you tried other state? Am sorry if my post annoyed you. |

Constance in Saratoga Springs, Utah 1 month ago |
Maybe true. But I just came from the Department of Workforce Services and randomly interviewed 3 employees there that help posts jobs and those who come in looking for work, there are about 3,000 jobs posted on any given day, which have been posted for about 4 months and have still been unfilled. Then I just came back from a vacation around the country and wherever I went there were hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of people going about spending like crazy in the malls, for a show, for a hotel stay, at the car rental, at the restaurants. I stopped and asked myself many times: "What recession?" What I am trying to say is that we should be careful about "group think". an example would be when somebody says there are no jobs to go around or the economy is so bad right now, then everybody else will think the same and it becomes group thinking. I guess I am really tired of the negativity about the economy. I am tired of the doomsayers. I am tired of people instilling in my brain that we are all in a bad situation. I am not saying I am well off, I am just tired of hearing about the economy being so bad, and low and the "woa is me". I wish people would just stop being so negative. Just my two cents worth. |

Wao! Thank you Constance in Uta! We need people like you to put negative talk away! "Negative Talk is like a Verbal Scorpion but good association builds positive attitudes"-Jonathan. If we can not find jobs for reasons best known to us especially if we are citizens, it does not mean someone else will not. Someone just said he traveled to another country for his education. Could it be that we all need each other???? I guess so.. This forum is not for antagonists. Its to make life easy for human beings. Again if anyone knows hospitals that are hiring with H1B visas, kindly let me know |

i though am under the impression that those who are unemployed are lazy. If they can't find a job in their field they might have to lower their standards. Lots of people are engineers/programmers who are currently working as CNA's, because that's the only job available. They're not unemployed but they are underemployed. If you're unemployed i think it's your fault. As far as i know, every fastfood company, walmart is hiring, why wouldn't you work there? |
|
grovel in Orland Park, Illinois 1 month ago |
jp, petitioners should be employers, or first degree relatives. What are you going for? Where are you? Are you in the US? If you're in the Philippines and waiting for an employer who would petition you that would be tough. |

adanneo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1 month ago |
guest in San Jose, California or whatever you are called, you have to be careful what you say on the internet as I said before. For example- “ripping the government off…” I doubt that you are an American citizen and a graduate! If you are a citizen and a job seeker, you should not be on the site that clearly signifies foreign workers. Its only citizen employers that should be here to hire, not antagonists. All things being equal, you should not have problems finding job if you are a graduate. I have two masters and finding jobs, but need H1B visa for those jobs. So i suggest you go back to school and retrain to whats obtainable in the market! Ask yourself; if your boss fired you and hired a foreigner, then there must be something he/she has that you don’t. Go get what it takes if you have been out of job for 5years. Its only a bad employer that will hire one that’s not qualified just because he is a citizen. You said“We have enough work if we stopped importing more foreign labor” Do you produce oil etc that you depend on other countries for? A graduate will not make the comments that you have been making. Please leave this site! |
|
adanneo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1 month ago |
You may have the right but if you dont have a clean record, you cant find any jobs. Citizen or not.I am here legally and making my life better with education, and also helping build the economy. Do the same, all things being equal |
|
adanneo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1 month ago |
This is pure common sense. Paying for education in a graduate level or any level is building that economy! Go back to school if you are qualified to do so.You will not be hired if you don't have what is required. You are just commenting under different names. If you have a clean record, you will not be struggling with foreigners. this attitude I think is why you don't have a job. You are not to tell me where to be. |
|
adanneo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1 month ago |
clearly, you do not have a job and so have all the time for things like this. I am only talking to you, and not to any other American. Stop generalizing and stand on your own.You do not like hearing the truth. If you keep fighting us from now till eternity, it will not make you employed. You are really making this site lose its goal! "Be Reasonable! Be Polite! Please read our Terms of Service and Forum Rules, where it notes that you are responsible for your own comments. You may post anonymously - but we reserve the right to remove inappropriate comments at any time". |

People, people! Relax! Calm down. The whole earth and the whole universe is so expansive and limitless, there is enough for everybody. Since there is a food analogy in this site, then I will use the same analogy. There is no competition for food here. Believe me, there is more than enough food on the table. There may be unequal distribution and a skewed shift, but the food IS THERE.
"If all the food in the world were shared out evenly, there would be enough to go around. That has been true for centuries now - if food was scarce, the problem was that it wasn't in the right place." So, what I am trying to submit to you is that the USA is not "starving" or "destitute" or "famished" or in "poverty". It had a little dip in the economy, that's all. But to say the least that there is "no food" or "not enough food" on the table is a bit of an exaggeration. Yes, I am a US citizen and I just wanted all of us US citizens to calm down a bit and not have this knee-jerk reaction. |
|
Constance in Saratoga Springs, Utah 1 month ago |
I had an economics professor who taught us that in our US economy we actually need the foreign born workers. We need the cotton-pickers, the farm-hands or the back breaking agricultural work, the hard laborers, the one who picks up the all the poop, the goo, the mess and other jobs that US citizens would not even dare touch, to make our US economy healthy. I am not trying to denigrate foreign born workers into just the lowliest of the lowest jobs but that is the trend. I watched a recent episode (Discovery, I think) wherein farmers were desperate to hire farm workers and there were no US citizens applying and no US citizen wanted that kind of job, many admitted that they depended on foreign born workers and that they were the most dependable workers even though the work was very hard, back-breaking and unsafe at times. The jobs that you mean that the US lost are the white collar jobs that majority of US citizens want and would like to do. These are probably the jobs that you are talking about. Some manufacturing jobs were lost but these US citizens have worked in these jobs for 20-30 years or their father or grand father has worked those jobs. These jobs are called "legacy jobs", they were manufacturing jobs but were not lowly jobs which is quite different from what foreign-born workers do. The plight was not they lost these jobs to foreign-born, the plight was because they had these jobs for 30 years and lost them. I hope we just keep it in perspective. |

Little dip is relative. Relative to other countries. I have been unemployed since 2007 but I choose not to be bitter. |

hoapres in San Francisco, California said: I am hearing tired of hiring that we need hiring illegal immigrants to pick our food as if they were not here Americans would starve. stop blaming others for your misfortune. If you want to change your situation, do something about it. Better yourself by making yourself competitively experienced or study some more! Get out of California since it's already saturated w/ nurses. Go to Texas they are hiring fresh grads or even Florida! Get yourself moving instead of spreading negativity on these kind of forums. Your negative remarks spread like poison. Just my two cents. Hope you find your happiness. Good luck! |

hoapres in San Francisco, California said: Stop posting the nonsense "If you have a clean record, you will not be struggling with foreigners." That is a pretty insulting statement to those Americans who can't find a job because the economy is extremely grim. Well, the thing with foreigners is that they don't have the entitlement mentality that a lot of Americans do. When foreigners work, they don't care about how tough the job is, how menial, how disgusting so long as they are working. That is why employers do want to hire foreigners. They hardly complain, they just go about doing their work. And employers see this, why hire someone who would file for workman's comp after a week's worth of work. You could say all you would want about foreign workers but they're the ones who do the dirty jobs here. (I guess with the exception of mike rowe). To everyone who's losing hope, don't. Just because there's this guy who was obviously decimated by the economy you would think that it's the end. These hiring periods are a cycle. Usually a 5 or 10 year cycle. |

Don't blame the people who are trying their best to live a better life here, blame the system. Go ahead and write your congressman, senator or even the president! Do you think they'd do anything to alienate the voting immigrants? I doubt it. Especially in states with lots of immigrants like CA, NY and IL. We are in a global economy, the US wants the best from all over the world. The only way that anyone could compete is if they were smarter, stronger, generally better than the others out there. Sad thing though is that Americans are at a disadvantage since most of them have to get student loans to go to college. Back home, almost everyone went to college since their parents paid for their education. Thus almost everyone has a bachelor's degree at least. I think we're straying off the thread's topic. This is supposed to be a thread for job opportunities for foreign-trained nurses right? |

Let us stop blaming, to the one who stated God foes not pay out bills think again. We are all foreigners, from the united kingdom. Persecuted Christians. Etc. Nurses ate travelling all over the world to find kind. Trinidad, Barbados UK, Canada, do why not USA. Stop hating , start loving and it will be all right. A bachelor takes one year, no sweat. |
