Will being an LPN/ RN as well as a LNHA drastically increase one's chances at landing an entry level job?

Hello kind folks! I am currently working an AIT with the desire to work as an LNHA in 2009. My B.S. is in Environmental Science so would going back to school for a nursing credential such as a LPN/ RN seriously increase my chance at gaining an entry level job in this field? It seems like nurses are in high demand but LNHA jobs are few and far between, so my idea is to cover all my bases. Does this seem like a good idea? I have worked as a direct care provider for over two years prior to my AIT so I have some experience taking care of folks. Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Peace!

I am a nurse from background prior to becoming an Administrator and I can tell you that it has been benifical, however, if I were you, I would not pursue nursing after completing your AIT. Focus on your experience and make a name for yourself as a hard worker during your internship and hopefully the company your currently working for will recognize this and place you in another facility. It wouldn't be worth the time, money and energy to get your nursing license unless you plan to use it!

just one humble opinion, but I think it can be a drawback. I don't like the idea of an administrator dabbling too much n nursing. LNFA should be able to say "that doesn't look right, what's going on?" when it comes to nursing.

It doesn't hurt and as an admin being able to provide direct care and get into the trenches makes you very valuable$$$ These are NURSING FACILITIES -Since most regulations fall in nursing it is good to know.
