I'm sorry to hear that...I am no longer pursuing this career either even though I really thought it was my calling. Most companies are purely profit-driven, which I have ethical issues with, and with further budgetary constraints and regulations, it's going to become a more and more difficult position. I think the fun when out of it about 10 years ago from the multitude of administrators that I have spoken to over the years. Good luck in your continued pursuit, if you continue to pursue!

I also am looking for a corporation that is willing to hire me and be a preceptor for the AIT program. I thought I was working with a corporation that had this option but after working with them for over 3 years, this is no longer an option.

I have been in the gerontology field for over 17 years, so I am wondering what are the qualification that they are looking for.

They aren't. Manorcare hires friends only. Trust me. I worked with them via another facility. I have tried to get hired with manorcare before. Im actually looking to move out of state. "i got that response for a credentialing position i applied for, and I have 12 years experience"

Is it my understanding that you still have to complete a AIT program after your BS in Healthcare Administration. I currently live in virginia and on their Department of Health Website I thought it stated somewhere that our externships 200+ hours will justify the need for AIT. I have been in school for 4 years and still need to go another year AIT 2000+ hours? Someone please help with this.

According to the DHP AIT application for NH if you hold a Masters or B.S. in Health Admin degree you only have to complete 320hours for AIT program. Go to www.dhp.virginia.gov/nha/nha_forms.htm

Franty;

You need to go to the website and check the list of the AIT approved site in your area and make contact with the administrator to see if he/she is a preceptor. Once you find an approved site and preceptor of the same building, you can then ask them if they will train you. In GA, it's 6 months of trainning (1000 hrs) with a Bachelor degree in healthcare related field, 500 hrs of tranning with a Master degree and 2000hrs of training without a college degree or a non health related degree. Good luck in finding a preceptor. It's not easy but doable.

Franty in Stone Mountain, Georgia said: Hi I was wondering if anyone has a list of all the preceptor sites in GA where I can contact for the AIT training? I went on the state site, they only give you the number of sites and preceptors but not the list. I have my masters in Health Administration and I want to sit for the board but first I want to go through the training. Somebody, anybody, HELP.... Thanks a million. Please email me at franty.cleophat@gmail.com.

Franty;

The list is on the website. I just checked it. There are lots of approved site in your area. You need to call and go there to speak with the administrator if he/she is an approved preceptor.

That unfortunately, will be the only response you ever get from them. My experience is....don't waste your time with them. There are better companies.

I agree. HCManorcare is not worth your time, experience, and effort. They are a thankless company that does not appreciate nor understand professionalism.
