I am a licensed nursing facility administrator in both Louisiana and Texas . I hold a permanent license in Louisiana and currently I have a provisional license for Texas . Recently I was successful in achieving the passing score established by the NAB for the Texas Nursing Home Administrator Licensing Examination for my permanent license. I currently live in Crowley , Louisiana . I am open to interim nursing facility administrator assignments in Louisiana and Texas as well as permanent opportunities. Recently I completed an interim nursing facility administrator assignment in Texas . I am also interested in opportunities where I could arrive on Mondays and leave on Fridays. I do not mind traveling during the week but cannot relocate my family at this time. If you know of and/or hear of any of the above opportunities presently your referral would be appreciated. Thanks for your consideration in this professional matter. Have a good day!

Does anybody have any advice about making a career out of interim assignments? with 18 years experience as an administrator, mostly in turnaround situations, I have found the most rewarding experiences to be restoring facilities to survey compliance and profitabilty; increasing census and mix; stabilizing staffing; and restoring resident, family, and community faith and respect for troubled homes.

I am happy with my current permanent assignment, but curious about the whole interim work concept. Is there enough demand to maintain steady income? What questions should I be asking otherwise.

Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

I have contacted the Louisiana Board and sent for my application. La says that I have to find a preceptor myself and they did not have a list of preceptors. They also said that some preceptees get paid and some do not--depending on the facility. I have not spoken with the Ms board, but most of their info is on their website.

I would like to get paid plus I would need to find out regarding a license. I have a current Kentucky license. Do you have their email address plus do you have the MS board website as well.

Best to you, Jack

Check out HCR-ManorCare - they have been advertising for assistant NHAs Monster.com)- two positions currently in Dearborn Heights and Allen Park (hcr-manorcare.com, click on career opportunities, and search by position and state).

Another company had posted an assistant NHA position in the Flint area (Grand Blanc) on Career Builder (The Rehabilitation & Nursing Center at Grand Blanc - contact name and phone number provided on the career builder site)

You can get job postings from all over the internet for NHA opportunities through Indeed.com - very helpful.

Good luck to you in your search!

I have done interim work in Michigan for ten years and have found that there is plenty of work. I rarely get more than a couple of weeks off between assignments.

The hard part is being on the road so much. I tend to put on some weight. It is great to get time off when you need it, but I don't think I would be doing this if my wife wasn't so successful. There is a certain security in having a more permanent job.

is it pretty expensive to be licensed in all those states? I have been licensed in Ohio since 1985 and formerly had a license in MI and FL but could not afford all the additional fees. I would like to lobby for portable licensure across state lines one day.
