It amazes me that people think a administrator's course given by a particular state qualifies him or her to be an administrator. I am looking for an AIT. I am completing a Master's program in long term care in a NAB (National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Aministrators) accredited program. I also have 3+ years experience as a nurse in long term care facilities providing direct care. This is my third Master's degree. Most facilities want education and experience. Competition is fierce because you are competing with people with Master's degrees in Health Administration, Public Administration, Gerontology, Long Term Care etc. A doctorate in social science, although a notable accomplishment, doesn't make you as qualified as those individuals with specialized degrees in long term care. |

I do feel the same way and in the same boat that you are in right now. I am looking for an AIT program in Tennessee as well. It is very frustrating to have the experience and education but can not find a certified preceptor to train me. In addition, the nursing home administrators who I have talked to are already training people and they do not have the medial background or education(people being trained). The people got into the AIT program by word of mouth. So why should we get Bachelor and Master's degrees when these people are getting in AIT programs who have never seen the inside of a nursing home facility. Does this seem fair? |

Have you ever considered asking the internship director at your former university to seek out a nursing home that will be willing to accept you as an AIT. It makes sense to strive for your Bachelor's as well as Master's degree because no one can take that education from you. I too am in the Masters program with my concentration being in Gerontology and I have had a wonderful experience as an AIT here in Tampa under the care of a nursing home administrator is knows his job.

You can take and retake the NAB NHA test without fullfiling any hour of AIT. Do not let the sytem full you. the AIT is only required in 48 states as a mean to take the NHA test. Get back to your feet and do something to save your Phd.

Thats right, I took the exam in Florida without an AIT; I just did my internship. However, I am still looking for a position due to no experience or AIT. I graduated in May 2007 with my BS in Health Care Administration and took the Florida and the NAB in September. I keep hearing the same thing, "Not enough experience", there are a lot of positions open for those who did an AIT or Edit progam. I am now talking to administrators in my area who are preceptors for the AIT to see if I can work under them for a little while. If any one has any tips or ideas please email them to

Okay. So, how do I bypass the AIT for a minute to get to take the NAB NHA test, because Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi are giving me the blues about getting an internship. As a matter of fact, I did not know that it was possible to do that. |

The University of Phoenix at the Memphis Campus does not have an internship. Anyone who attends this university majoring in Health Care Administration is "up the creek without a paddle." I have tried the alumni association and their website,to me is a joke. There is nothing to help graduates in the medical arena. I feel that I wasted two years of my time. Oh, the job fairs are not any better. I have tried that too. So, alot of my classmates and myself have decided to attend nursing school. At least, I know there is a job after I graduate because of the shortage in Nursing. |

I am being considered for an assistant administrator position with a reputable company in a metropolitan area of Florida. We have not yet discussed a compensation package. Could anyone give me some advice on what the typical assistant administrator’s compensation would be? I have BS Degree in Health Service Administration and have already received my Florida NHA License. I have also worked for 1 year as the Assistant Administrator of a 120 Bed SNF. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Mark in New York, New York 18 months ago |
Yes, you need to finish the AIT which first needs to e approved by the NYS DOH. If you need any informtaion you can e-mail me at mafiaruv@aol.com and I will be able to answer any questions you might have. You should know that finding an AIT position is difficult and the process takes time. It took three months after I finished the 5 required courses to find a preceptor to do my AIT. I am actually looking for a job now. |

Anyone can go to www.nabweb.org and learn the states that require an AIT. There are states that do not require an AIT if the degree is in healthcare and has an internship associated with the program. Florida does not require an AIT, if the school is approved. |

NHAnetwork site is not fraud. You are welcome to explain what you see that look like fraud and we will fix it. May be you do not understand where you are. We are living in the era of information system development. For example, people can get Medicare and Medicaid information for free from the government, however, there are many organizations that focus only on helping people who cannot find or understand this information. The same thing applies to immigration or any business. Knowing an information an interpreting it are two different things. You never ask yourself why the gas is so expensive while it does not cost that much to buy a barrel? Or why you do not go and question Exxon Gas company who made 40 $ billion benefit last year in selling only gas while the American people are dying to put this money in their pockets. Don’t you think you would do a better job if you open a web site just to give people information about how and where to get a barrel of gas not a gallon. I challenge you to think of these issues instead of gossiping about an honest preacher HNanetwork does not make money out of nobody. If you are one or know someone who has been misled or paid money to NHAnetwork, come out and let's face it. You are welcome to call me to discuss more as intellect not as a mediocre. There is a great book out there and it's: The Cry of Obbama's Daughters. Go to
The Cry of Obbama’s Daughters is an exiting and inspiring story of two crying daughters, Omilia and Omisha who have been thrown in the political arena by their two politicians- parents, Obbama and his wife, Omichella. They exposed their daughters’ privacy in their pursuit of self-actualization to make world history by becoming the first African American president and the first female black to be the First Lady of USA. Obbama said that he would destroy all gas stations and build air station for Air-Car in USA to end the gas dilemma. Obbama’s words are characteristic traits of kingship and his actions are inborn habits inherited from his ancestors. What if Obbama was a prince, would he be claiming to be king? In the book, Obbama is a prince of the Kenyist kingdom that was destroyed by two wicked nations. Becoming an orphan after the death of his parents, he lost his identity and was trapped with his family in USA until her daughters revealed him his identity through their dreams and adventures. Obbama’s daughters met with the most powerful beings of the universe in quest for clues to decode the mystery of their father. Theirs journeys are colored with tears, actions and… This book is the drama of the era, the most successful story written in a new genre and it’s based on facts, history, love, adventures and sciences. It’s in English with a French translation as a BONUS. Children, colleges, universities and ESOL students will find it resourceful. This book is still in rearrangement. Do not hesitate to criticize my work. Email me at: americandreamsfoundation@yahoo.com |

Brenda contact your board of nursing and ask for a list of certified preceptors for the AIT program. Its 6 months of free labor but worth it at the end, I have 409 hours left to do from 1000 hours. |
