They teach concepts to apply to any question as well as test taking strategies. |

Harold Batiste has the BEST review course, he is ex-military, in San Antonio and you cannot fail if you go to him. He will provide individual help to you if you take his class, bring your failed test results with you and show them to him. These tests are very difficult, he will help by providing strategies for studying and remembering, as well as overcoming your particular weaknesses (we all have them). |

Very interesting skd.....many students who have attended his seminar in San Antonio have passed the state, which is easy, and many fail the NAB. Many that have failed actually have attended K & K Consulting seminar in Houston and passed on the 1st try. Two individuals who attended K & K seminar, previously attended the Batiste seminar and failed the NAB 3 times, passed the first try after attending K & K seminar. By the way, do you know Batiste's pass rate. Stan Mucinic's seminar in Florida has a 95% pass rate & K & K has a 100% pass rate. I wonder what Batiste's pass rate is because the individuals that failed his seminar are attending the other two seminars. I wonder why his pass rate is not on his website. |

Hello everyone. As I am new to the NHA world in Texas, I have a few questions: What is the difference between the 200 hrs and 15 credit hrs or are they the same thing? Is it better to get a certificate (from Midland for example) or degree (from UNT for example)? Thanks, Daniel |

I have heard that Batiste just teaches you to memorize answers while K and K teaches concepts to understand how the NAB rquires you critically think through each answer |

I see alot of folks who want to be LNFA, I hope they know what the job REALLY requires. You will get fired and you will quit and you will have rewards. Longevity for LNFA is short, maybe 18months if you have a good survey. You are married to the building, pray for good staff and a good D.O.N. Hopefully your corp folks will support you and let you run your building. In today's homes with all the cuts in Medicare/Medicaid, its all about CENSUS..you gotta have a good marketer and you gotta create a niche for yourself to get those patients in your building. At the end of the day, we all like the warm fuzzy stories of patient care, but your job security is based on budget, census and survey. I just thought I would put that out there. The pay is good but forget 8-5 and golf on week-ends |

The pay is good but forget 8-5 and golf on week-ends LOL Mark. You are correct in some instances. You can increase revenue and decrease expenses or if you are "stuck like chuck" and your census is low, just adjust everything to current census minus 10, and you will do fine. "Heads-in-beds" is not the answer; however, as you know, it is paying "heads-in-beds." Census trends for ALL nursing homes are cyclical. Administrators with extensive marketing and financial management skills are the ones you never see get fired. The question to the Administrator is what are you doing to try to move the census, and while trying to increase census are you financially managing your facility to have a positive bottom line with a profit margin of greater than 20% on a monthly basis. BTW, did you complete your AIT and did you test?? Charles Vallier |
