California doesn't offer straight license reciprocity, but it will allow an administrator to work under a provisional license. This gives you the opportunity to work for up to a year, during which time you must take and pass the California NHA exam. There are a number of good on-line sources for information about California NHA licensure, as well as first class exam-prep resources. Here are a few to start with: • Nursing Home Administrator Guide Book
• California Nursing Home Administrator Program Web Site
• California Association of Health Facilities/Quality Care www.qchf.org/nursinghomeadm.php
• AIT Exam Prep

You will want to study this material indepth for the state exam. You will need to know the differences between ICF and SNF for staffing, documentation requirements, etc. There will be some OBRA questions on the exam also. I found the test to be fairly straight forward. If you have any questions email me and I will help any way that I can. Good Luck |
