Hello Michelle, you may have to think about doing a review course outside Georgia.Recruiters provide the free lunch and hand out business cards. They also take your resume if you have one.You get to meet others entering the profession and they give you leads. I will be driving to Houston, Texas next month for one such review. |

Look at PPD and FTE in relation to all aspects of a facility ie food, supplies, etc. Also look at margins, revenues, expenses, EBITAMR. |

Keep that next to you as you use the 800+ Questions Book, as it is useful to look things up that you may not know. Townsend Davis, Haacker Principles of Health Care Administration is invaluable. They are the resources you need. Look for Federal regulations, OBRA. Read questions carefully, best answer is really the way to go. Good luck (PS, I never did benefit from any "old practice tests", I was emailed one and it was REALLY OLD.) Read, re-read. I even put the stuff on CD's and listened in my car. Good Luck to you. |

There aren't any "magic" study guides. Listen to what people who have passed the test recommend. Read my previous post. I passed the first time because I took advice on what to read and learn. You all can do this, just use the appropriate study guides. No one should look for some miracle test to study. It does not exist. |

I concur with comments from maryzeb in Deltona, Florida and want to emphasize also that you must study and know the material to pass the exam. I am seeing too many candidates looking for the easy way out and I believe that all of these poorly written practice tests that are being circulated are resulting in an increase in exam failures as supported by a decline in overall pass rates. You will not find these practice items on the actual exam and if because they are written by individuals who are not involved in writing actual exam questions they may not even be correct or current. You must study and understand the content. All items are supported by the official NAB recommended reference list. I wish you all success.

I absolutely agree with Mr. Linder's post there is no easy way to obtain the knowledge need for the NAB exam. I didn't utilize all the NAB recommended materials and did not pass the NAB. I have since purchased the suggested materials reccomended by the NAB, and feel confident I will be successful. Also I was hoping you can shed some light on why there are many out there who try do discourage this profession. I have 9 years experience in long term care and know what to expect. Anyone have any encouragement out there? |

Anyone have any encouragement out there? Been in long term care for 22 years. Started in dietary, worked in housekeeping/laundry, administrative assistant, human resource director/payroll, and now on to hopefully becoming an administrator (also working on my SRNA). I can't imagine being anywhere else. I love long term care, and hope I have the opportunity to make a positive impact for those I serve. If you have been in long term care for 9 years, you already have a firm understanding of the challenges this industry faces. Good luck to you. |

Hi there is no AIT school....you have to call Nursing Homes and ask if they offer an AIT program that you can enroll in. |

Oh you did, if you don't mind can you forward the names of the NJ schools. In MA we don't have AIT schools. We have to do all the work to look for AIT programs. It's not fun some of them just shut the door on you. |

As I have periodically, I want to remind everyone on this forum of your confidentiality resonsibilities relative to discussion or exchange of any information related to actual content of the NAB NHA examination. This is important both to those of you who have taken the exam as well as anyone receiving such information as in both cases it would be considered a violation of the confidentialy agreement you sign when you register for the exam and when you sit for the exam. There have been several cases in the past year where the NAB has taken action for violations ranging from monetary damages to sanctions. Asking or sharing any information about specific questions on the exam is a serious violation. Sharing study resources, study techniques and such is permissible. Best of luck to all of you.
