I so agree with you, look people being an Administrator is a giant step, you can't go into this career looking for the easy out. like said over and over again you must know the federal standards you really have to know this information stop looking for easy way and start reading the regulations. It more to this then just passing the test..... get out your highlighter and read!read! Read! and you will pass this exam with flying color trust me...

Can somebody tell me the different in NHA(nursing home administrator) LNHA (license nursing Home Adminstrator). I offten come across different nursing administrator businss cards and some have NHA, And some have LNHA...? |
|
okmerlin in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 34 months ago |
In Oklahoma (and most other states I'm told) it is unlawful and a misdemeanor for any person to Act or serve in the capacity of Administrator without a license; so the L (licensed) is redundant. A NHA (nursing home administrator)is licensed and to represent as one without the license can have some severe penalties. |

For those who are studying and planning for the NAB exam, I would like to share some study techniques and materials that help me the most. I passed yesterday on the first try. First, you want to prepare well in advance, for me 12 weeks. Start by reading the NAB examination study guide. Once completed, begin reading the Long Term Care Survey book. Thereafter, purchase Nursing Home Administration fifth ed, James Allen, and the newest edition 2009 Principles of Health Care Administration. It is important that you read each at least twice. This encompasses an extensive amount of reading. DO NOT waste time buying books with questions; there is enough in the study guide to give you an idea. Put your time and attention to reading the material.

I am looking over the materials to buy from nabweb, and i just have a question about the "watermelon book". on this website, www.nabweb.org/nabweb/common/storefront.aspx?id=388 is the Long Term Care Survey the "watermelon book"? And if so, what is the difference (besides price) between the Binder Subscription and the Softbound Edition? Is it the same material? Is one better than the other? Any help would be greatly appreciated :) |

The watermelon book is a necessity to have in the facility, while the Nursing Home Administration 5th edition and Principles of Healthcare (2009) are good references to have. This is a useful link to find the lowest book prices.

Just took the NAB on Saturday. To be honest the practice exams were helpful and all, but NONE (not one of the 800 practice questions) were on the actual NAB exam. READ THE BOOKS!! There are no shortcuts...not even the practice tests. |

Please tell what all the books are that I should study? Thank you |
|
bianca in Detroit, Michigan 33 months ago |
The three books recommended to me at the two-day seminar I attended were: NAB Nursing Home Administrators Examination Study Guide by National Association of Boards Of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators, Nursing Home Administration By James E. Allen, and The Licensing Exam Review Guide in Nursing Home Administration by James E. Allen |
