Hi i'm looking into entering the OT profession. luckily, my mom has been an OT for over a decade and has been able to answer many of my questions but she mentioned that it's sometimes frowned upon when OTA's go back to get an OT degree rather than just going straight for the degree. Has anyone found this to be true? Also, is it necessary to get a master's degree in order to enter the field or is it possible to major in occupational therapy? and last, i'm very interested in working with people struggling with substance abuse, eating disorders, and other addictions; does anyone know the opportunities available or have any experience in these settings? if so, could u explain the type of work involved?
i really appreciate any feedback and am thankful for all of the posts and responses i've read so far... it's helpful to all of us considering this field!

Most OT programs are entry-level Master's degree. I think its beneficial that you are an OTA and its not "frowned upon" to be one when entering a program.
