I am considering becoming an occupational therapy assistant. I have done lots of research and it seems like a fun career. I love working with children and I am a child development major. Unlike in the early childhood field, the pay seems really good and there are lots of jobs available.

However, I am shy and I am not sure whether I would be suited to become an occupational therapy assistant. I am a good writer but my social skills are not great. I am a good student and I am willing to work hard. Can I be shy and be a good occupational therapy assistant? What kinds of skills does a good occupational therapy assistant have? What do you love most about being an occupational therapy assistant?

I notice that people in the medical field are not necessarily "people person". However, you do need to interact with patients and have some basic social skills.
