I have been researching and trying to decide if I want to pursue Occupational Therapy Assisting or Physical Therapy Assisting. I finally applied to a Physical Therapist Assistant Program to begin classes in the Fall (if I get in), but after reading about RC3-11, I am having doubts about the profession (this new bill could possibly make the PTA license worthless and drastically decrease salaries). If the bill passes, I do not wish to spend time and money pursuing a career that will pay me what I already make now (I practice Massage Therapy). My question is, will this bill affect Occupational Therapy Assistants, as well?

My only goals are as follows: Make $40-50K per year, have job security, work with special-needs children. If OTA can cover all of this, I may switch programs!

Thanks in advance. :-)

If the bill passes, it will only be a matter of time before COTAs face the same dilemma.
