How did you get your start doing paralegal legal assistant work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

Do you need a particular educational background?

My sister is a paralegal and she has a bachelors in criminal justice and a paralegal certificate. It's tough without the bachelors, that's why I am trying sooo hard to finish up my schooling. I have the certificate as well, but it does not help much because these firms are looking for degrees...even if they are willing to train you...you must have a degree.

Yes, from what I've seen during my LONG job search in this field it helps a lot to have a degree or years of experience. Search for yourself and you will see what I am talking about. These legal staffing agencies willing to train you are looking for grads. At least here in NY where the competition is fierce.
