Displaced Legal Professional in Denver, Colorado said: Hey, Mary, you said you can take shorthand at 200 wpm? That would be on the stenograph machine, right? Or would it be manually? If manually, you possess a hell of a skill.

Yes, it's a stenograph machine. Everyone is on computer now. I have been practicing for five months because I hadn't touched it in 20 years!!! I bought a computer writer. I need software. I am doing my research on the modern-day court reporting field.

School starts end of August. My plan is to look for court reporting work while doing substitute teaching. I do have a teaching interview on July 21st.

So right this minute I might as well collect my unemployment until school starts. It's a definite amount every two weeks.

A bonus I got - when I had to refile, they used my school work - and I started out with a brand new claim of money (not emergency UM).

There is a need for legal document preparation. My mother has thought about going into it and she has her degree in paralegal studies. I am thinking about helping her with that business. If the plan even gets off the ground (it is mostly just a dream thing). My mother went back to school got her degree in paralegal studies and is still unemployed like most in Michigan. I don't think people need validation. What they need is hope and what is sad is that we withold that from one another. You know people come on these things in part to get some hope from people. "Maybe my plan isn't so stupid," they might think. And again, document preparation is a good idea. Most people legal assistants, attorneys, and the like are too busy to do these things. Also, people who need to do these things but don't know how might be helped by this business. These are not my words they come from my mother who has worked with countless attorneys. Look all I am saying is stop raining on parades and give HELPFUL and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism to people who come here to find it. Who needs the other stuff?

If Ptown made comments about me, and Displaced thought they were bad enough to delete (which I didn't see them), then Ptown, you need to evaluate your concept of professionalism. You keep saying you are a professional, but honestly, everything I keep seeing tells me you are a child.

As a professional, you learn to work with people, whether you like them or not, whether they have said things you dislike or not. What are you going to do if you have to work in an office, and you have to work with someone you don't like? Are you going to go through the whole office and talk about them, make jokes and snide remarks about them? Do you do that now? That is a form of harassment and you an get fired for it. That is also considered not being a team player, and you can get fired. There are reasons you can get fired and not collect unemployment.

You keep saying you have your own business, something in real estate, doing loan modifications - because you like helping people. You make it difficult to believe. I'm inclined to think you are working for someone else.
