With the new ruling that TOEFL IBT should be taken only at the jurisdiction of the city where you are giving your FPGEE, it will become really hard for new aspirants to become pharmacist now. The toughest will be for those, who use to travel to US to give FPGEE.

What year did you graduated? They are still accepting a 4 year program as long as you graduated before year 2003. Then, after that it has to be 5 year course.

I'm a Swedish pharmacist studing for my FPGEE for April 2011. Then planing to do tofel if I pass (I hope). My friend has already passed both and our question is- whats next?

FOR New YORK state.
Thank you for taking your time in reading this

Hi annette

I am about to finish this year the faculty of pharmacy in rome, italy. I read the FPGEE bulletin and i am confused about the license or certification number. I don't know what to answer for the following questions:

1. Was an unrestricted license required to practice pharmacy?

2. Was an unrestricted registration required to practice pharmacy?

Does this mean that i have to pass first the state exam in Italy , enter to the Pharmacist Order here...This is what I have to do to start practice the profession here in Italy.

Hello everyone!
I just want to share. I sat for FPGEE last April 2011 and passed. It was my first time and i only studied CPR. I did not review the workbook. The test was more basic than i expected and since i graduated last 2002 I wasn't quite certain if i was going to make it. There was a downloadable version i found online in 4shared but i chose to buy the book so i can make notes on it. I made a review notebook and have further summarized each chapter that was already been condensed for review. If i didn't understand a term, a procedure or anything that needs further explanation, i searched on line. There was also a pre-fpgee test offered by nabp that i took and another that i got from 4shared but i don't remember what it was. During the exam, i felt like i haven't reviewed at all. There was a lot that i answered based on common sense than on the books. When i say common sense, i mean the one that a pharmacist should know, foreign graduate or not. I read the questions carefully because some of them can be a bit tricky. I reviewed CPR for 6 months, 4-6 hours a day and 2 weeks before the exam, i started the pre-fpgee tests i found on line.
Next, TOEFLibt, I took my first TOEFLibt June 2011 and got R29 L30 S27 W23. I was like WTF! I taught ESL and thought it was a piece of cake, but it wasn't, 23 for writing~just one point. Flashback~~ I took my TOEFLibt in my home country before i left for Jersey and got R30 L29 S27 W27 but sadly NABP told me they only accept the ones they accredit due to standard differences and so i have to take it here.I practiced on my writing and found a video of Sir Joseph in youtube and tried his pattern for writing, I have unintentionally memorized it because of repetition;p. His videos helped and i recommend anyone who's about to take TOEFL to watch it~FYI, he also has videos about the speaking part. August 5 took my 2nd TOEFL and got R30 L29 S28 W27. Woot! Sept 21, I got my FPGEC applied for my internship and now searching! Good luck!

This is so bad and my heart's broken. I've just spoken to the intern coordinator of CVS pharmacy and she just informed me that they no longer consider foreign pharmacy grad interns. I have a greencard and an fpgec. She said it doesn't matter. She said that the pharmacy grads/ students here in the US have been over saturated for years and companies like them cater first to their grads than the foreign grad pharmacists. She said that they don't accept foreign grad interns for over 2 years now and as she knows leading retail pharmacies such as rite aid, walgreens- duane reade; walmart, target, shop rite and the like- would prioritize US educated students than foreign pharmacy grads and that most of these retail co. no longer accepts FPGE certified individuals. I feel heart broken because i know i worked hard to get this certificate and was thinking that the hardest part is over. I was totally left dumbfounded after hearing what she said. She said I could work as a pharm tech but that's all and can't convert my hours to internship hours. I've been searching for a year. I still have hope but i'm getting tired. I feel as if they(nabp and ets) just allow foreign grads to get the fpgec just to gain financial advantage from the takers. I'm sure they know this situation and they know the large number of applicants and the money they spend just to get this certificate. I don't know what other foreign grads like me experience but this is the situation now in New Jersey.

My situation is exactly the same. FPGEE certified, w green card, and been looking for internship for more than a year now. It's really UNFAIR...we deserve to be treated equally and must be given the opportunity since we have met the requirements and have been a lawful permanent resident here in the US or else NABP should stop administering the test coz it will just be a waste of money, time and effort for us foreign grads.
