I know this question may be silly. English is my 2nd language. I'm quite good at face-to-face conversation, but answering a phone call is another story. I often need to ask the other person to repeat what he/she's saying. Either they speak too fast or there are many noises that makes it hard to understand, not mentioning a lot of people whose first language is not English.

I'm offered a job at Safeway. I'm excited, but I'm also worried. Dealing with customers is not easy. I'm afraid I would upset them on the phone.

Can anyone share your experience about this? Thank you.

It can be difficult specially with difficult consumers. You mindset has to always be the customer is always right. Be courteous, be confident, be straightforward without offending the customer, and when they blow their top, stay calm and wait for their anger to subside before you speak :D.
