Marce in Los Angeles, California said: What do you mean? How were they horrible to you? Where do I begin?? Lets see..my teacher SAID MANY TIMES that QUESTIONS SHOULD NOT BE ASKED, as it was disruptive from the class..( THEY LATER DISMESSED ME FROM THE CLASS FROM THIS) THe teacher was downright NASTY to me in every way possible. She embaressed me and OTHERS in front of the class. She shared personal INFO about me with the class . Also they MARKED questions wrong on tests that were really correct and when asked to fixed I was spoken to very rudley as the teacher must have been embaressed for her careless errrors..Most of what I learned was from reading the text myself..The teacher you could tell did not READ the chapters as we did. It was a horrible experince, If you would like to discuss this futher you can email me at asimplemind85@gmail.com as I am in the process of filing a complain with the BBB for them and am not sure what I should share here or not. Thanks so much |

Marce in Los Angeles, California said: Has anyone taken the training through Boston Reed College and what has been your experience getting a job? Hah! Good luck finding a job! I took their course last year and put out applications to all the major supermarket chains that had pharmacies, plus the discount drug stores like Rite Aid and CVS and NOTHING! Not even one interview! And they continue to raise the cost of their course now. In my opinion, they LIED about how lucrative the job market would be! They made it seem like jobs are plentiful and pharmacy techs are in demand. I think the field (at least in the western area) is saturated now with pharm. tech graduates all looking for work. It helps if you speak two or more languages, but if you don't, good luck my friend! Also, I think most places prefer to hire young people, or people with 10+ years of experience. I am very soured on the whole thing, having spent over $2000 on the course, graduated top of my class, got licensed and jumped through all the hoops they required, and could not find a job. |

As a pharm tech with extensive experience, my advice to all of you looking for a job in the field is to keep looking. Look at other positions within corporations that promote from within. Start as a pharmacy messenger, unit clerk, cashier, etc. The company is more likely to hire an employee that they have already invested money in with training & background checks. |

Simple Girl - I know you posted this forever ago but on behalf of Boston Reed I want to apologize. I have been an instructor with BRC for almost 6 years and I find it appalling that you were treated that way. It's so unfortunate that one bad instructor can tarnish the name of a nation wide school. I want to assure anyone thinking of attending BRC that we instructors are not all like that. With any school it's best to get the experiences from past students that took the course locally. BRC is a great choice for those who want to take an accredited pharmacy technician program. The course is only 21 weeks and meets just 7 hours a week. It's is by far one of the least expensive schools out there too. As far as job opportunities, it was grim there for a while. But I can't think of a field out there that will 100% guarantee you will be able to find employment right out of school. The future is looking bright though and the economy is looking better. In California pharmacy technicians is one of the fastest growing fields out there. There will always be a need for us and new pharmacies are opening all the time. Good luck in whatever you decide! |
