A lot of prospective pharmacy technicians don't know and they should know. That the national ptcb exam is a test similiar to the SAT/GED test. When you want high scores or to pass any test you need to know what to study for. So the goal is you want to become a certified pharmacy technician and the only way to accomplish that is to pass the national ptcb test. Passing this test allows you to register with your local state board of pharmacy. So what book covers every area that you need to know on the national ptcb test at www.ptcb.org, it's simple, study smarter not harder and know what to study for. After taking the national pharmacy test 2 times, the first time I flunked because I did not know what material to study for. The 2nd time I passed after doing research and finding out that "Delmars Pharmacy Technician Certification and Review by Patricia K. Anthony" was a book that was modeled exactly after the national PTCB test. Every question on in that book covered what was on the national PTCB test. I flunked the first PTCB test at M.I.T building 10 in Cambridge,MA and passed the second PTCB test at Pearson Education Center in Boston,MA( computerized testing facility) |

Gooda afternoon Hanan, were you able to find a job in Orlando,fl? Hanan in Orlando, Florida said: Hi Pamala!! PLEASE don't stress out!!! Be calm and try to concentrate on questions. I know what you're feeling. I passed exam recently and still waiting on my score. I want to give you an idea what kind of questions I got, so you can check it with yourself. You will need to know about P & T Committee, it functions, read about Accutane drug, very dangerous drug that can cause harm to fetus, know anti-fungals drugs and blood pressure drugs. I even had a question about insulin ( needed to calculate how many bottles will be given for 1 month supply if PT is injecting 35 units in the morning and 40 units in the eve) Insurance questions ( Medicare, Medicaid ). Know freezing, refrigerate an room temperatures. PLEASE PLEASE learn schedule 2 drugs!!! ( I have a question about MS contin, wchich is morphine sulfate. Remember there is no refills on it!!!!!! Even PT has lost his prescription, he will need to call MD for a new one. |

Hi, I am in the process of selcting a school. In FL (starting in Jan 2011) the state will only issue a license to an approved program so just buying a study book is not an option and you need a state license in order to work as a PT. One of the schools I am looking at is telling me that I will be unable to sit for the PTCB exam if I do not go to a progrmatically approved school. Is this true? I am not seeing that this is a restriction on the PTCB site. Could this be new? Thx,

I looked nearly everywhere online for an interactive list of Top 200 Drugs to help in studying for the PTCB exam, and found only ONE website where I could organize the table of top drugs by classification, major use, route of administration...basically, the works! It's really new, so I'm not sure what the deal is, but I used the table to study in the last few days before taking the exam and aced all the drug questions! Anyone looking for a good resource would be wise to check this out: www.CPhTblog.com Good luck! :) |

Hi all, I am getting prepared for PTCE and wish to know about what percentage of exam would be about drugs. I know that I am good at maths. So do you think I can pass the exam if I score good in maths and very less in drugs? What type of drug questions appear in the exam? Is it like Brand/generic, functions, side effecs/Adverse effects, contraindications, Mechanism of action? Please help. Thank you. |
