The Pros of working as a Hospital tech:

1. Having a job that makes a difference

2. Having the opportunity to absorb all sorts of medical information

3. Not dealing with insurance companies

4. Decent pay

5. Not dealing with rude, insane customers

If you're looking for a job where you don't have to be on your feet much of the time, you don't have to deal with arrogant co-workers and getting good pay, good luck! Techs are hired in hospitals right off the street. If you think you deserve the above w/ no experience or training, maybe you set the bar a little too high.

You're exposed to a lot of different things. I know a Tech who, after working in an OR satellite pharmacy, took some classes and became a Surgical Technician - makes really good bucks in a private practice now. More than one Tech I have known is now working for Cardinal Health a manufacturer and distributor of medical and surgical supplies. For others, it turned on their interest in Nursing or Pharmacy school.
