Hello Everyone, My name is Cheryl I'm a Phlebotomist in Tri City Medical. I have worked there for 3yrs and have enjoyed every moment of it. I'm a Neonatal Preceptor, Coordinator, and have worked in the Emergency Dept. for years. Yes it is very different in a hospital setting. It can be and is a very high stressed position. I do not regret one minute of it. It's very rewarding to know you are one of the first to see the patient, it's a world of its own trust me I know. My favorite place is in the nursery or anywhere the babies are. I train all the new phlebs on the babies. I tip my hat to all Phlebotomists,

Dear Cheryl, About two weeks ago I applied for a phlebotomist position with Tri City Medical Center. Could you give me some insider tips on Tri Cities hiring and interviewing process. I have over twenty years experience as a phlebotomist and Iam a very good one. Patients do at times take for granted having an experienced and skillful phlebotomist draw and process their blood, until they get a bad one. Our job is an important one. And I have always been proud of what I do. However, enough about us. So Cheryl if you could give some idea on what I could do to secure a position with Tri City. THANKS

Hi ladies, I'm new here and new to the world of phlebotomy. I haven't even finished the course at Vista ROP! I'm a little nervous about finding a job. I just wanted your advice. I see that alot of the places that are hiring want 6 mos. experience, or more. Where should I start? I don't have any experience (obviously). Thanks!!!

hi...ive been doing this job for almost 7 yrs and i dont regret any of it. anyway...my advice for you is try to apply at san diego bloodbank they hire people who dont have state license as long as u r nationwide license just to start off. usually hospitals they ask for at least 6months to a year experience.plus have to have state license w/c usually takes a while before u get it.

CORRECTION!.....they said to me YOU HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST 6 MO. EXPERIENCE before being considered for the job. so does anyone out there have any suggestions how to get started? (and going to the actual place of business isnt gonna cut it people, you must apply online!)

hi casey
I'm not certified yet. I still have to get my intership done. do you have any tips you can give me? I know you're in Brea, but...anything would help. My plan of action was going to be to apply at different hospitals in the county as a 'floater' going per diem wherever they needed me to start, get my 6 months to a year in that way and then look for a lab that I could go to. I'm just hearing that networking and getting your face and name known is the way to go right now. I hope that helps. sorry I couldn't be more useful.

I finished the phlebotomy program and had my first interview maybe a week after i was done with school at the hospital here. I got the interview though my internship. They needed someone and the person that I worked with recommended me. I have heard that starting off as a phlebotomist is really about who you know. I also volunteered at the hospital while I was in school and it really help to get my face out there. I knew several people that worked there even before I had an interview and knew my way completely around the hospital. It really helped me a lot. Now I about to start working a children clinic and they were also very impressed with my volunteerism. I hope this helped!

Hi all, I finished my Schooling and my Externship, also passed my National Exam and paid for my State just waiting to get my license so I can start working, but not sure how to start with the "you need 6 months experience" before your considered, if you are just starting how do you get experience. I live in corona right now but moving to Temecula. Would really like to get a job soon I miss doing it.
