Wow if you talk/think like that, maybe you don't need to be in the Healthcare field. Did you ever think about Volunteering somewhere? That's where you will gain experience until you get a paying job.

I am looking for a phlebotomy class in Winston-Salem, NC. I am trying to find one that can get me trained quickly. The community college here makes you take a CNA semester first, then the phlebotomy class...a total of a year.

I am a little concerned, after reading this forum, that it is difficult to find a job, but it sure looks like there are a lot of ads for phlebotomy positions around here ? PLEASE HELP ME ! THANKS

Way to go! Thanks for the encouraging word. I believe that determination to do what you love, and truly knowing all you need to know are the key to finding that first position. I just completed my externship three weeks ago. Have an interview on Friday with a big medical group. I hope it works out for me, but if it doesn't I will keep my positive attitude and keep studying to keep all of the skills and knowledge that I have attained. I'm also going to take the certification exam with the AMT as soon as I get my official transcripts and am able to. Good luck to you all!

I live in In Ohio. I went to Larock Academy. I was also told it would be no problem to get a job. They posted positions everyday , however they never mentioned that no one would hire a new grad. If anyone knows where I can get started it would be greatly appreciated.

I completed my national certification in June, 2011 and still can't find a position. Even the Red Cross won't hire me because they want full-time and I am employed in another job and too close to retirement to change now. I am considering asking about doing an internship somewhere to get the experience. Has anyone else tried this with any luck?

I am in the same position another job and close to retirement. I volunteer at a free clinic as a phlebotomist for them a couple of times of month to keep my hand in it. After I retire I plan on doing it on a more full time paid position at another facility.

Hi Everyone,

I know the Phleb Schools tell you that jobs are plenty BUT thats if you have the experience & even then they are difficult to obtain. If your really serious about Phlebotomy, then I suggest that you find a Free Clinic somewhere & volunteer your time to gain the experience that you need. Its a win win situation...you gain experience & provide a service that is needed for a good cause. I'm a Phleb & it took me 2 years to get a position. I also continue to volunteer at 2 free clinics here in my area. Good Luck Everyone!

I am now a nuc tech and I put myself through school doing that. got alot of experience too.

What are the names of these companies?
