I live in baltimore, maryland and I finished school for phlebotomy not too long ago. I even got my national certification because I thought that it would help get hired quicker. But no one will call me for an interview and I've been applying everywhere. Does anyone have any advice on what to do just to get some experience? Do hospitals offer volunteer work, or how does that work? How did you current phlebotomist get your jobs? |

Have you tried applying at any of the blood banks, or plasma centers? After I got out of school it was hard for me to find a job. I started at a plasma center. You may also want to try a dialysis center. |

Have you tried your local health department, plasma centers, red cross, dialysis centers,or blood banks? Indeed normally has postings. Most places don't hire students right out of school. Don't give up and apply wherever you can even if they are not hiring. If you do apply somewher make sure you call bac to check on you app. status to show you are interested in working there. Reseach the company you are applying at beacuse it also helps to know a little something about the company. Good Luck ! |

I have 15 years phlebotomy experience. Moved to California 9 months ago and still can't find work. I believe the schools lead you into believing that there are lots of phlebotomy jobs just to get you into their schools and get your money. I see a shortage in phlebotomy jobs, not an abundance of. The hospitals in California only hire right out of school students so they don't have to pay them anything. It is getting to the point where you might as well work at a department store. The pay is not to far off, and at a department store there is no danger of HIV, hepatitis, or TB. I wish I would have saved my money instead of getting state certified. Department stores or even McDonalds isn't looking so bad. |

Have you tried contacting Job Shops? They often will place you and if you work out the outfit you are working for will bring you on permanent. I know several people that do that. In my area Critical Solutions are big and Select. Try that route.. |
