DO NOT GO TO BOSTON REED! They're horrible at getting back to you. I paid around $2,500 to be completly ignored when it comes to a proctor test and externship. I was promised in a contract to have an externship witin 90 days after turning in my prereqs, it's been over 4 months and all i've been hearing is excuses from the externship coordinator and nothing at all from the individuals who are supposed to run the proctor test. DO NOT GO TAKE ANY CORSES FROM THIS SCHOOL! |

There is a Phlebotomy program at Abrams College in Modesto. I paid about 2800.Money well spent.Received my internship about a week after finishing classroom portion. Also, took my National Test at Abrams. They helped with scheduling the test, gave instructions what to do after. It was great. Didn't have to worry about a thing. |

sherry in Manteca, California said: hi i live in the central valley and am looking for a school for phebotomy all the ones i found are like 7000 any suggestions?? Abrams College in Modesto has Phlebotomy program. It's $2,800. I went there last year. Class is two weeks. When I went there it was two week-ends and two tuesdays and thursdays( nights). After that they placed me for externship. I did one week.Didn't have to look for my own site, they took care of everything. I was done with the whole thing probably within 4 or 5 weeks. I passed my national certification test. School scheduled it. I don't know how they do it now but when I took mine they had those tests offered pretty much every week or every other week. For me the whole class was just right, because it wasn't that expensive and I was done fast, didn't have to look for my own externship and they scheduled me right away. And also I didn't have to look for a place to take my test. I hope this info was helpful. |

Out of all of you who completed your Phlebotomy training, has anyone found a job? If so, how difficult was it? I too have heard that without prior experience it's quite difficult. Anybody found anything different? |

I live in the Buffalo, NY area and there are 3 phlebotomy programs near me. Can someone who has taken phlebotomy tell me what I should be looking for in comparing these schools? All are accredited. One has tuition for $949, one is $1200, the last $1799. The last most expensive one includes all lab fees, books, lab coat, and cost of certification exam. I will be starting in September or October depending on which program I pick. Thank you. |

I was looking into attending the Boston Reed location in Oakland for phlebotomy. After reading some of the other comments about this school I'm beginning to have second thoughts. Are all of their schools this bad and is there any other school one would recommend for the bay area? |

nix in Palmdale, California said: Hi what city did u attent . is it that bad DO NOT GO TO BOSTON REED! THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU LEARN. YOU WILL FAIL the NCCT test. GO TO PHLEBOTOMY PLUS INSTEAD. OR OTHER SCHOOLS THAT WILL PREPARE YOU WELL for the test and for submitting stuff to the State for your license. Everything that was on the NCCT was not what they taught about in class. I wasted thousands of dollars going here, and if Id known how bad they were I would have picked a different school. Too late for me now! But not for YOU!! This school will NOT prepare you on the real world application or help you to get where you need to be. The staff at Boston Reed is ignorant and not willing to help you. Once you finish your course, they will drop you like a bad runny turd. I made the mistake of going to Boston Reed and I had to do everything People had wait at least six months and over for their externship. Very stressful time. Heed the warning *DO NOT GO HERE* Anything is better than this school. |

Don't go to phlebotomy school, PERIOD. I graduated with excellent remarks on my final evaluation at MJC in November 2010. I passed the ASCP exam with a 90 percent in February. I attained my California CPT1 license in March. I have not found a job, and neither can any of my fellow 30 classmates who don't have experience. The money spent is NOT worth it if you can't find work. If you know someone who can get you in, go for it. Otherwise forget it. Everyone wants to do it because it's fast and reasonably cheap. So what happens is new hires keep flooding the job market along with those who DO have experience and are looking for work also. MJC is pushing out 30 students at a time, about twice a year. Not to mention the other schools in the area. It's a very, very bad situation that the schools will NOT tell you. They will tell you the job market is excellent and the prognosis is good for you. At least that's what MJC told me. What a lie. I loved the coursework but it was a huge waste of time and money for me.. DO NOT GO TO PHLEBOTOMY SCHOOL. Unless you want to have a lot of knowledge but nowhere to apply it and no income. |
