Does anyone know of any places to volunteer, besides American Redcross, in the Bay Area? American Redcross has closed off it's volunteer listings all over California. I've been a certified phlebotomist for 10 months now and want to keep up my certification through volunteering at least, just like everyone else I still haven't been able to find a job. If anyone could please post up any websites or listings it would be great. Any clinics, veterans hospitals, hospitals in general, places like Redcross? |

Other states are cutting back, be we are NOT in this Line of Work and WILL NOT be for years to come. Good Luck and may GOD Bless YOU. |

All you have to do is get your insurance agent to refer you to a paramedical company. If you don't have much experience they will start you out collecting urine, medical histories and physical measurements,ht,wt,b/p's. That's how I got started. You can also check temp agencies. |

You might want to try BioLife plasma centers (owned by Baxter), if you live near one. They are across the country in select locations, but they will hire and train if needed. My boyfriend got a job there with no phlebotomy experience. |

try look at craigslist.com probably u can see any hiring there, but right now Im actively doing volunteer at one of the biggest hospital here in Calif. But bcoz of the economic crisis, they're really not hiring. They freeze the hiring process, in fact they cut hours of employees and they're doing cost cutting. almost everybody experience the same no one is alone. |

I am desperately looking for a phlebotomy job near Keene, New Hampshire. I completed the program and excternship requirements but have found that all positions require 1+ year experience. I am willing to volunteer to get more experience but can't even find those openings/options. I love doing this so much I'd CONTINUE to volunteer even if I found a job and took it. HELP!!!!!!! |

nicole stone in Bronx, New York said: I would Like to start working as a phlebotomist however, companies want at least 6mths-1yr.of experience. How can I get some experience if I just became certified? I got really lucky when I finished school. I found a job through a job listing site and they were willing to train and I worked with top nurses who taught me great techniques in phlebotomy. Keep looking and hopefully you will run into a place who have the patience to teach you and brush up on your techniques because it takes more than just locating a vein there is so much more involved like making the patient comfortable and comprehending what your doing and learning from it and follow safety guidelines.. keep looking you will find something don't give up ;-) |

My school didn't have the insurance to cover us to draw blood during our clinical trials, so I don't really have my Phlebotomy Certificate yet from NCCT, though I AM certified because we have to take blood 25 times, and do 6-7 capillaries. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to gain that experience? |

I am A current student through CCAC in Pittsburgh, I was wondering if anyone knows of any Hospitals or centers around the area I could do phlebotomy volunteer work? I still have 4 weeks left in school, but I would like to get a little more experiance before "applying for a job". I do know what I am doing, I've had several sticks thus far atleast 100 or more. But, I would feel more comfortable getting more practice. THANK YOU!!!!! |
