I graduated from an accredited PTA program in GA in July 2003. I never got licensed because I thought I would go on to PT school but later decided against it. I want to be a licensed PTA now. I know I have to get licensed to practice in OH and its going to take a lot of studying at this point to help me remember things and to pass the test. What do you guys think about trying to get back into PTA after 5 years? I would think that employers would be willing to work with me on regaining experience, but still feel this is a big leap. Any advice or thoughts are welcome.

I am in the same boat and terrified, what do we do? I was searching for online tutoring but haven't had any luck yet. I know I can do it, its just going to be alot of work! Maybe we can be eachothers support system.

I can definitely identify with both of you on this subject. I've been out of the field for about 8 years, and just recently went back to work as a PT Aide/Tech in a SNF. I really want to get my license, but I still need to find out from the state about review courses, etc. I attended one by
International Educ. Resources back in 1999, but circumstances
kept me from taking the test a third time.
I really like being back in the field, and the people I work with are truly glad to see me everyday, and that makes me feel
good, along with being able to work with patients, therapists, and other PTA's.

I graduated in 1999 and took the test once and failed. Thought I wanted to apply for PT school, however decided to get my Bachelor's in Health Admin instead in 2003. I think about taking the test all the time because I really enjoyed the industry. I don't know where to turn or who to contact to see if I need to retake courses to sit for the test since it has been so long. Any recommendations?

When I graduated from PTA school in 1987 in Illinois there was no licensure in the state and I was granfathered in 2 years later. Many of my classmates went to Indiana but I never thought I would move out of state. So I was out of school for 5 years when I had to take the test because I moved to Alabama. I passed on the first try but was terrified. You guys should just refresh some stuff and give the test a chance, you might surprise yourself!!! Good luck
