Hello, I am considering applying to a PTA program at my local community college. Could anyone tell me the demands of a typical Associates Degree program? It is a new program at my school, so the details of the course load and clinicals are not ironed out as of yet. I am not to concerned about the actual academics; I am a great student with excellent grades in chem, A/P, bio, etc. How are clinicals set up? Are they held during daytime hours? Are the textbooks particularly spendy? What about additional supplies and uniforms? Thanks! |

I am enrolled in an online course with San Juan College for PTA and the demand is low. however you must be on target with the course work, because there is some memorization required. I already have a Masters in exercise science so although i have been exposed to the material before, i still have to work at it just like you would. i work in a clinic as a personal trainer with some pta duties as well. |

Don't know how it is now but, after I had worked in a PT dept. for two years with a PT who was good at instruction and explanation I could have passed the State Board without the degree. I have seen some graduates lately that I wondered how they had passed. My best advice is ask all your questions of the smartest one in the class and take a study partner who is not doing as well as you. It helped me to have someone besides the instructors explain things I did not understand and someone I needed to explain things to that they did not understand. |

I am licensed in Iowa and would like to transfer my License to CA. What do I need to do. Are there any Brain Injury Rehab center in or around Mendocino CA? |

i recently moved from Mendocino / Fort Bragg area. No there are not. closest might be in the Santa Rosa area. you'll have to look around. i do remote work for Adventist Health out of Ukiah, and they transfer all high level of care patients to Santa Rosa or UCSF. Mendocino area is small and remote. PT is out there and a small local hospital but no higher levels of care. Good luck. it's beautiful there and i miss the beach but i'm in sacramento now to go to PTA school. |
