Hello future PTAs, I talked to a PTA today trying to get some insight about the field. He has been a PTA for 8 yrs., he makes about $82,000 a yr., during home health care. WOW!!! that is some good money.

Hi Kim,
you could get accepted really easily if you move to VA and apply at Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC). Admission is accepted on a first come first served basis and there is no waiting list. If you apply, you are almost guaranteed a seat. Good luck!

That's the highest salary I've heard of. I'd be willing to bet that the person is either inflating their salary for one reason or another or they are in the .01% of PTAs that make this type of salary. I certainly wouldn't expect it.

Hey Lee,
The poster doesn't indicate the details about that person. Did he work overtime, what type of setting he works? where he works and so forth. You could definitely make near these numbers if you work a lot, or if you are in settings such as home health. Be positive man! I like your posts. Keep it up!

True. I'd just hate to see second time career folks with families going through the sacrifice of going back to school for their PTA degree in hopes of a 80k/year salary. 80k/year is ~ the average high end salary for PTs. It does depend on a number of factors you listed. Prior to the 80k/year figure the highest I've heard for PTA is 60k/year. One PTA with this salary also had over ten years experience with an MBA and worked as a rehabilitation manager for a skilled nursing care facility. Just another perspective.
