I am another 40 year old in Orlando who is considering changing careers. I use to work as a production supervisor in a photofinishing plant (until people stopped buying film) and then went on to have a nice run in house flipping until about 18 months ago (until people couldn't buy houses). My brother suggested PTA as a career. He's 12 years younger than me and after serving his country, he is pursuing a career in health care. I have looked into it and it seems like something I would really enjoy. First, does anyone know how difficult or competitive it will be to get into SCC? I have a BS in Accounting with a marginal GPA. I am prepared to take the required prereqs and attempt to get in for Fall 2010. How tough will it be to get a job in Orlando with the college right in my backyard? Also, I wouldn't get my degree until Summer 2012. Is my window closing again with what may be happening with potential Medicare/Medicaid cuts? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
